Last Wednesday, our networking group had the pleasure of watching James Woodhams from JMW Carpentry & Builders deliver a fantastic 10-minute presentation on our visitor day. But this wasn’t your usual talk—it was hands-on, engaging, and full of teamwork!

James handed out bags of LEGO and images of house sections, challenging each table to recreate them. After a few minutes of trial and error, he revealed the missing piece—the step-by-step building instructions!

This simple yet powerful exercise highlighted the importance of architects' drawings before starting any big building project or extension. Just like LEGO, a well-planned design ensures everything fits perfectly the first time.

James and his team at JMW Carpentry and Builders work with homeowners who understand the value of proper planning to create high-quality builds.

Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of hearing from Bryan Avery of SwimTayka , our chapter’s chosen charity. 🌊

Bryan took us through some eye-opening statistics about drowning worldwide—an issue that disproportionately affects underprivileged children living near open water. But amidst the stark realities, there was some good news: drowning deaths have decreased over the past six years! 🙌

He shared practical steps we can take as individuals, groups, and even governments to raise awareness and support Swim Tayka’s mission of providing free swimming lessons and drowning prevention education.
