I was trying to trace back how I became interested in solarpunk about a year ago and I can’t remember, but I’m pretty sure it came from learning about anti-colonialism, like pretty much everything I’m interested in at the moment.

Solarpunk appeals to me because it’s hopeful and rather than telling people what they’re doing wrong, it offers alternatives.

And it’s inspiring! We get to use our imagination and creativity and think about how the world could be better, instead of the “inevitable” dystopia the media feeds us?

I made this 60 second film as part of a series of workshops with , and then it was shown on the big screen as part of Swansea Arts Weekend in ’s pop up cinema!
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to make something which sums up something I’m passionate about so well and it’s made the idea of making short films feel much more accessible for the future!

Emergency demo. Come out for trans liberation!

Following yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling a number of emergency demos have been called across the UK this Saturday. To coincide with these ***r and are organising a demo in Swansea:

The Supreme Court has ruled that under the Equality Act 2010, provision for women only applies to biological (cisgender) women. This ruling also asserts that s*x is binary in the eyes of the Supreme Court, further cutting off the possibility of non-binary legal recognition.

No matter what attacks are made against our trans, non-binary and gender diverse siblings, we won’t disappear and we won’t back down. There is a growing movement against this. Join us and show transphobes, the far right, and the government: THIS IS FAR FROM OVER.

It’s quite surreal to say this but I’m looking for food creatives to join my team!

Q***r Flavours is a company who puts on creative, experimental and joyful supper clubs and catering experiences. I started my own company after trying to work in professional kitchens and *not* fitting in! Now I get to do what I wanted without the egos and toxic masculinity: being creative with food and creating community.

The work will be on a freelance casual basis for events and prep as they come up. I’ve got a few events planned for 2024 and some big things coming in 2025 that I’ll definitely need a few people for!

You don’t need to have professional cooking experience, although I’d love to be able to create a healthy working environment for whose who have struggled to fit in to conventional kitchens, you just need to be creative, humble and community focussed!

My next event is inspired by the experiences I had at two places which mean a lot to me: the Welsh countryside and the Tex-Mex food I had in Austin.

I grew up in our seas.
I’ve been thinking a lot about cultural heritage recently and I think that nature is my link to my heritage. My mum knew how important being outside was so she made sure we swam and camped and had adventures and felt like nature was our home.
This made me who I am.
The Welsh influence of my menu is a tribute to this 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

My time in Austin in 2019 was a turning point for me: the city stripped off the version of me that thought work was the most important thing in life and was busy trying to conform to who society said I should be. The land Texas is on used to be part of Mexico, but was colonised by the US in the 1800s, so has a strong Mexican influence and population. I still dream about the breakfast tacos I brought on the side of the road filled with bacon, cheese, eggs and cactus. Or the barbacoa tacos, encased in corn tortillas freshly made that morning and dripping with meat and chilli oil guaranteed to end up all over your hands… or the crispy fish tacos from the award winning food truck opposite my hostel 🤤
The Mexican inspiration of my menu is my love letter to Mexican food, the importance of cross cultural influences and the transformative experience I had in Texas 🇲🇽

Just over a week until Pride - kick your day off right with my American Diner inspired brunch!
We’ll be honouring the trans women and drag queens who stood up to the police at the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot in San Francisco in 1966. Three years before Stonewall, it was the first collective act of q***r resistance ✊🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
