Meet Gemma.
Gemma hasn’t been with the team for very long, so we don’t have nearly enough photos yet — but she has very quickly become a big part of Animal Cwtch.
Some people join a team slowly. Gemma arrived with enthusiasm, competence, and warmth, and seemed to settle straight in.
She had been a supporter of Animal Cwtch for a number of years before joining us. She’d attended parties, events, and even booked us for a party at her own home. She was already one of those people we felt an instant connection with, and the same goes for her lovely family.
So when she applied to join the team, I was very pleasantly surprised to learn she had a degree in Zoology and a master’s in Animal Behaviour.
Since then, she has blown me away with her knowledge, confidence, and how quickly she has adapted to the role. Presenting, handling animals, reading the room, supporting guests, getting stuck into tasks behind the scenes — she has taken it all in her stride.
Gemma has quickly become a central member of the team and brings a fun energy that feels safe, friendly, and genuine. People naturally warm to her, and it’s easy to see why.
She has a lovely way with both children and adults, helping people feel relaxed while keeping sessions engaging and full of learning.
Her children are also proper Animal Cwtch super fans, so you’ll probably spot them in plenty of photos over time.
She also takes a great photo, which is always appreciated.
I think her favourite animal might be Princess Leia.
What’s especially lovely is that although Gemma has only officially been with us since around February, she already understood Animal Cwtch. She had followed the journey for years, so joining the team felt natural rather than new.
That kind of shared heart for what we do matters.
So far, we haven’t found an area Gemma doesn’t excel in.
We’re very lucky she chose to join us.
