‼️STATEMENT REGARDING ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS AT WINSTERFEST 2026‼️
We are deeply saddened to have been informed that a complaint has been made to environmental health regarding the water supply at Winsterfest. This sadness is not due to the fact the complaint was made, as we are always keen to ensure that we comply with all rules and regulations, but is due to a person feeling unable to come and speak to us about their concerns throughout the weekend. We are disappointed that somebody left feeling that the event was not meeting the high standards that we strive to achieve and felt that an external complaint was necessary.
We apologise if it was not made clear enough that there is water available, for free, at the site. There is a tap situated by the showers which is a direct supply from Severn Trent Water. We always encourage the water to be boiled, but please be assured that this water is safe. We also supply free boiled water at the control station by the entrance. Bottled water is available from the food and drink vendors and if requested.
We acknowledge that on reflection, we perhaps did not provide regular enough reminders to all attendees to stay hydrated throughout the weekend. It was announced on stage by Lynn, and by many of the bands that you should make sure you drink plenty, however, in future we will work to provide more frequent reminders. We will also put up more notices to remind you to drink plenty.
We have used the same site for a number of years, for multiple events each year, and have never had an issues with anybody drinking the water. We are also unaware of anybody else becoming unwell over the weekend and would encourage anybody with any concerns to contact us directly so we can resolve the issues as soon as possible.
We strongly encourage attendees at any of our outdoor events to consider their water storage. Please refer to manufacturer instructions if using a caravan/campervan/motorhome and ensure that any water storage is cleaned/sterilised frequently. We will also have water testers on site at future outdoor events for anybody who wishes to test the water.
If you have any concerns, or become unwell, during any of our events, then please do speak with our staff so any concerns can be addressed imminently. It is worrying to think that if there had been any problems with people becoming unwell, that we were not made aware during the event. If we are not informed of problems, then we cannot resolve them.
We will review our water policy prior to our next event and will work with environmental health to resolve the complaint made. In the meantime, we thank you all for your support and welcome any constructive feedback/concerns to be provide by email to [email protected]
We look forward to seeing you all at our future events!
