Instep Academy is a performing arts school based in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire, offering classes in a variety of different styles for all ages.

🚨 OUR IDTA EXAM RESULTS ARE IN…

And honestly… WOW. 😭❤️🏆

We entered an incredible 176 exams this session - and I am SO incredibly proud of our dancers!

🏆 JUST LOOK AT THESE RESULTS…

✨ 176 exams entered

✨ 100% of our dancers passed!

🏆 71.8% achieved the highest classification or award available to them!

🌟 27.3% of all marks were 90 marks or above!

🤯 And our highest mark was an incredible 95!

All of the numerical results are marked out of 100, so these really are some fantastic achievements. ❤️

🏆 WE HAVE A NEW SCHOOL RECORD!

Our previous highest ever mark at InStep was 92/93…

And we have now absolutely SMASHED that record with some incredible 95s! ⭐️

176 exams. Hundreds of hours of preparation. Countless hours of practice. And one VERY proud dance teacher. 🥹❤️

But honestly, the numbers aren’t even the bit that makes me proudest.

Behind every result is a child who has worked hard.

A child who has learnt.

A child who has practised.

A child who has listened to corrections and tried again.

A child who has walked into an exam room - sometimes feeling incredibly nervous - and performed to the very best of their ability. ❤️

Some of our dancers have had really significant challenges to overcome along the way, whether that’s illness, nerves, confidence or simply pushing themselves outside their comfort zone.

They did it anyway.

And THAT is what makes me so incredibly proud to be their teacher. 🥹❤️

These results are testament to the hard work of our dancers, but also to the support they receive from their families and the commitment they show week after week.

I honestly couldn’t be more proud of every single one of them.

Well done, InStep dancers.

🩷 IT’S EXAM DAY! 🩷

After weeks of hard work, extra practices, rehearsals, corrections, nerves, tears, laughter and LOTS of dancing… the day is finally here! 🥹💕

Today, our amazing dancers will be taking to the exam room to show off everything they have worked so hard on.

From our tiniest Pre-School dancers taking their very first Rosettes, to our older dancers tackling their graded exams, medals, awards and assessments - we are SO proud of every single one of you! ⭐️

Remember what we always say…

✨ Listen
✨ Concentrate
✨ Believe in yourself
✨ Smile
✨ And most importantly… DANCE YOUR HEART OUT! 💃🕺

You don’t have to be perfect. You just need to go in there, enjoy yourself and show the examiner what you’ve been working on.

And parents… if you have a nervous dancer this morning, just remind them that the examiner is there to see how brilliantly they can dance - not to catch them out! ❤️

We have complete faith in them, and we cannot wait to see all of their hard work shine today.

🎭 It’s not always pretty… and that’s the point!

There’s a lot that happens in a dance class that you don’t necessarily see from the waiting room. 😂

The messy hair.
The wobbly turns.
The “I can’t do it!” followed by… “LOOK! I DID IT!” 🙌
The constant repetition.
The giggles.
The concentration.
The occasional “Miss Jenna, WATCH THIS!” every 30 seconds. 😂

And then suddenly… something clicks.

A new skill.
A better split.
A cleaner step.
A routine they finally remember.
A little bit more confidence.

That’s the bit we love. ❤️

Because dancing isn’t about being perfect. It’s about trying, improving, falling over, getting back up and being proud of how far you’ve come.

And sometimes the biggest achievements aren’t the ones that happen on stage — they’re the little ones that happen in class every single week. ✨
