The Fire Station is a vibrant, mid-scale performance venue in the heart of Sunderland – housing a brand new the state-of-the-art Auditorium and The Engine Room bar & bistro. Whether you’re an indie rock champion, adventurous jazzer, theatre devotee, comedy enthusiast or just after a great night out, our programme is packed with entertainment from music and comedy to dance and theatre.

2022 will

also see the opening of the Parade Ground, bringing live music and performance to the glorious outdoors with an external stage, bar and festival atmosphere. The Fire Station is a hub for performance in the centre of the city. With studios, rehearsal spaces and teaching rooms upstairs, we’re inviting you to give it a go for yourself as well as nurturing the next generation of performers.

Musicians and creatives of the North East: BBC Music Introducing LIVE is coming to Sunderland! 🙌

BBC Introducing LIVE on Friday 6 November will feature engaging panels designed to help you develop your music career, grow your audience, and build your brand, alongside a Feedback Centre staffed by industry experts from major & independent labels, BBC presenters & producers, and other key figures from across the music industry 👌

They'll be on hand to listen to your music, share their expertise, and provide valuable feedback to help you develop your sound and refine your craft.

Picture the scene.

The sun is shining in the sky, you've got a pint in your hand, and your bait from Chicken Ting is on its way.

You're surrounded by your mates and other music lovers, singing your heart out to one of the UK's most exciting bands - live, loud and right here in Sunderland.

The Lottery Winners are one of the must-see bands of 2026 and you can catch them at The Fire Station this Saturday - playing hits from their TWO UK number albums.

The rest of the line-up is banging too.

Fresh from BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and tipped as one of BBC Introducing's Ones to Watch, Sunlun's own Swindled Official make their Fire Station debut.

And Eighty Eight Miles are an infectious indie-pop outfit who have shared stages with The Ks and Red Rum Club, while making festival appearances at Isle of Wight, The Great Escape and more.

The music starts from 5.30pm with Lottery Winners expected on stage from 8pm.

We’re taking a short intermission from our Summer Parties tonight 🌞🎉

Back in the auditorium we’ve got our Premier League preview show with guests including Aiden McGeady, WTF Sunderland Podcast, Rob Mason, Phil Smith (On The Whistle) and James Copley (Sunderland Echo).

We do this show every summer and it’s always a great night - so if you’re a Sunderland fan, grab your tickets online or on the door.

The show starts at 7.30pm and we still have 10 meet and greets with Aiden remaining (be there for 5.30pm).
