Havelock Towers Ghost Hunt - 11.10.25

We returned to the fantastic Havelock Towers for our second event in our Halloween schedule. And what a sinister time we had.

We started our group call out in the hall. Instantly guests reported a shadow figure of a man standing beside them. Others seen the same figure walking in and around the group. A loud noise from something dropping in the corner startled us all before the sound of a bell could be heard. Whatever was there didn't like us and would soon show itself.

Dan and Katie's team - Started the night table tipping. Not much activity here but the music box in the hallway was constant with noises heard out as though something or someone was wandering the halls. We then went up onto the stairs to do sensory deprivation. For the first guest, the music box just constantly went off. Some other guests braved lone vigils in the cupboards downstairs and on the middle floor. One guest reported feeling a presence in front of them and on their knee. The second guest on sensory deprivation gave us some great hits with a common theme of get out and leave. They said “come here” and when asked where, they said “down here”.

Planchette slightly moved but not much. Heard lots of noise and footsteps on the stairs. A couple of guests braved the loft alone and one felt extremely uneasy and left after a short period.

Went up to the Loft and did an Ouija. Some movement although didn’t spell anything fully except “me”. The spirit moved slightly and then went to goodbye. After a team leader saying they felt the spirit was weak, the spirit chat immediately came up with “he’s weak”.

After break we did the mask experiment and wow! Everyone saw a literal shadow move across the mask, totally dimming the light when it covered the mask. We had clear facial changes on the mask with multiple spirits. There were taps and bangs heard throughout this too. The tapping hand sounded during the experiment as well. We then did an Ouija session and a spirit which said it was inhuman was moving the glass around the board constantly and violently and at one point the glass nearly flew off. At this time there were noises heard on the stage with us, a growl and shadows seen throughout

We then went to brave upstairs. We had a spirit chat session with multiple voices coming through and answering questions. Everyone could see a small child like shadow figure at the bottom of the corridor and when this was reported the music box went off at the bottom of the stairs. Whilst we were all accounted for, we heard an almighty bang downstairs on the stage and all felt the shudder of it. There was nobody in the stage area and all guests in the building accounted for. Then again, the music box at the bottom of the stairs went off.

Adam and Steve's team - We stayed in the hall after the group call out to see if we could tease out whatever was there. While on the stage the dead ringer bell went off as though something had walked passed it. We did a shout out and nothing much was heard. We went onto the ouija board and closed the stage curtains. Almost instantly there was movement from the hall. The bell went off again and footsteps could be heard from behind us. On the board whatever was trying to speak just wanted us out. While on a guest braved a lone vigil upstairs. While she was up there we all heard someone in the room shouting, the guests friend said it's ok as it's just her calling out. Thing is it wasn't her calling out, she said she never said a word upstairs and could hear movement from the bathroom. We all went upstairs to see what this was. The spirit speaker was telling us to get out and giving us a few names but nothing significant so we went back down to the board.
As soon as we settled the glass started spinning all around the board, settling on the letters z and u, there was footsteps from the corridor and the music box was activated. We went to investigate and nobody was there, again banging from the stage, and the music box again going off in the hall and a guest said they had a voice whisper in his ear saying the word 'yes'.
After break we went to the loft area, the sound of a door opening below us and a cat ball on the stairs going off as we asked who was making these noises. Then names were coming through on both the spirit chat and ouija, we googled these names and they were from the Sunderland area at the times and years given on the board.
The table tipping was amazing with great answers to yes or no and the guests had it walking towards the music box which was telling us something was in the corridor.

An amazing night full of activities and we could have been there for hours it was that active.
I'm sure I've missed out loads so feel free to fill in the gaps.
Until next time don't have nightmares đź‘»

Jedburgh Castle Jail Ghost Hunt 4.10.25

We returned to the amazing Jedburgh Castle Jail for our first event in our Halloween schedule, and what a night it turned out to be.

We started the night with our group call out in the abandoned men's wing. The sound of a door opening below us set the tone. Shadows seen walking through the middle of the group, a guest felt her hair being pulled, one of the teams arm was grabbed and something knocked on the main door with all guests and team accounted for.

Katie, Shannon and Carries team - Started in the men's wing after the call out. A shadow seen moving across the floor near the end cell, scratching on the walls and a metal sheet heard moving in the dark. The ouija board spelt out the name of a prisoner that was later found on the display board in another wing. And then started giving out random words. While on here a guest seen what he described as a lantern light from outside so went to investigate, when they did the main door opened right in front of them with nobody on the other side. In the women's cells the planchette kept spelling the word love. When asked it wouldn't explain why. On the sensory deprivation there was loads of responses from questions asked and they described the area the jail was in. In the children's wing the whole group felt on edge as though something was watching. We split into individual cells and started to call out to the prisoners and guards. A huge bang was heard from outside the wing which freaked the whole group out. We went down the stairs to look what made the noise and we all heard a women's scream from the end of the cell block. We radioed the other team and they were on the opposite side of the jail.

Adam and Dan's team - We started in the old workhouse section and we all heard footsteps walking above us and cell doors being opened/closed when we were downstairs while all guests were in the cells. We tried to get answers from the table tipping which said they were a female who was wrongly accused of a crime. After the table we shut the guests into the cells downstairs and the guests reported seeing shadow figures in the cells with them which started to freak us all out.

The Ouija was pretty quiet during this part of the night although the spirit speaker did give us some hits with the name Elise and numerous times the words “innocent” and “guilty” were heard.

After the break, we started in the men’s block. The group were in Cell 21, loads of responses on the k2 when asking questions. The spirit was communicating through the k2. A butterfly got brought upstairs by a team leader. To which the butterfly never moved until the team leader asked the spirit to move the butterfly and it started flying around the cell.

The Ouija in here did give us some movement and we had a gentleman called Charles, who passed away in 1918. Unfortunately the spirit did not give us any information and the K2 was going bananas when the glass was moving and everything went very quiet and the K2 totally stopped as well.
We then went to the floor above the base room where the planchette did not give us any movement, however there was lots of noise/ taps/ bangs around the floor. A figure of a man was also seen in the doorway of a cell, and when the SLS was used after people saw the figure, this also picked up a figure too which was great. The spirit speaker also gave us multiple hits with the name Oscar, and multiple voices coming through telling us to get out and leave.

All in all an amazing return to one of our favorite venues.
I'm sure I've missed out loads so feel free to fill in the gaps.
