Centre Stage North East is Sunderland's longest-running and most successful Stage School. CSNE was established by Fiona and Mark Clegg in 1994 as a way for children and young people to be involved and acquire a love and appreciation of the performing arts. ed by CSNE include The Wizard of Oz, Guys & Dolls, Hello Dolly!, Kiss Me Kate, Alice in Wonderland, Anything Goes, The Music Man, Bugsy Malone, Cry in the Dark and Disney’s Aladdin. As well as producing their own shows, CSNE has been involved as part of many others including professional productions in venues such as the Sunderland Empire, The Customs House, The Gala Theatre Durham, The Theatre Royal, The Tyne Theatre and the Metro Radio Arena. As well as producing musicals, CSNE also offers private singing tuition and speech & drama and musical theatre classes – working towards LAMDA qualifications. In September of last year we presented our 30th Anniversary concert Hey There Broadway at Sunderland Empire. As part of the show, we showed messages from stars of stage and screen as they congratulated us on our milestone and wished us "break a leg".
This one is from the cast of the UK Tour of Matilda The Musical which opens at Sunderland Empire tomorrow night, so we just want to return the compliment and wish you great success for your run here in Sunderland. We can't wait to come and see you in action!

It is with the greatest of sadness that we report the loss of one of Centre Stage North most devoted supporters Marian Clegg, who passed away peacefully on Saturday at the age of 83 following a short illness.

Marian had been with Centre Stage since the very beginning and enthusiastically threw herself into helping with our projects in a multitude of ways too numerous to list.

Her attendance at many of our rehearsals, and her charm and interest in others meant that she was well known to generations of our members. She will be hugely missed.

At her request, there will be no funeral, but tributes can be made on her behalf as donations to St Benedicts Hospice who cared for her brilliantly for the final weeks of her long and fascinating life.
