Join Women’s Community Boutique at 17Nineteen for a session with Durham Wildlife Trust.

Their theme for this season is recycling and managing everyday waste. Weather permitting, we’ll go on a short walk where we’ll forage for leaves and natural treasures (to potentially turn into willow-woven autumnal wreaths), and along the way, if we see any rubbish, we’ll pick up it up with our litter pickers to keep the places we love tidy and safe.

There will also be a fun rubbish sorting activity (using clean items) and helpful leaflets on recycling rules in Sunderland. All are welcome.

Say No To Fast Fashion

Fast fashion seems convenient, but the hidden costs affect all of us:

Environment: Synthetic fibres contaminate waterways, pollute soil, and pile up in overflowing landfills.

People: Fast production relies on harsh working conditions and underpaid labour in vulnerable communities.

Personal: Cheap fabrics wear out fast, draining your finances over time and creating endless wardrobe clutter.

Small changes, like repeating outfits, swapping, sharing, buying preowned, and buying higher quality, make a massive difference.

We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be running a women’s DIY skills group starting Tuesday the 22nd of September!

From 1pm - 2pm, you’ll be accessing the knowledge, tools and encouragement to tackle everyday repairs and improvements with independence & pride!

More importantly, you’ll be accessing a community of women who are also learning, experimenting and cheering each other on!

Come along to Sunderland Voluntary Sector's Financial Forecasting Workshop for practical guidance on understanding your organisation's finances and plan with confidence.

This session will be particularly useful for social enterprises and VCSE organisations with trading income or commercial activities, but the learning can be adapted to support a wide range of voluntary and community organisations.
