It’s all in the atmosphere ✹

Flowers might be the main event, but it’s the little details that really bring a table to life.

Soft candlelight, glowing table lamps and layers of different heights can completely transform a space, creating that warm, romantic atmosphere once the evening draws in.

Starting a little Tuesday Truth series because there are so many things I wish couples knew when they start planning their wedding flowers.

And this is probably one of the biggest

You don’t need to know anything about flowers.
Some of my favourite consultations start with a few saved images, a colour palette and a couple telling me how they want their wedding to feel.

From there, we work it out together.
So if you’ve been putting off contacting a florist because you don’t really know what you want yet, please don’t it’s all part of the process.

And that bouquet
 soft, romantic and full of that effortless, just-picked-from-the-garden feel I love so much. Delicate lilacs and blush pinks, soft whites, little pops of yellow and plenty of natural greenery, all brought together in a loose, whimsical shape with lots of movement and texture.

We’ve been a little quiet on here recently. With three children home for six weeks, Olivehill Garden social media has taken a bit of a back seat while we’ve been enjoying the summer (and juggling everything that comes with it! 😂).

They’re now back at school and nursery, and I’m looking forward to sharing all the beautiful weddings and florals I’ve been working on behind the scenes.

One of the biggest myths about wedding flowers...

“Your flowers won’t last all day.”

I often get asked, “Should I have faux flowers instead because fresh flowers don’t last?”

The truth is, professionally prepared fresh flowers are designed to last throughout your wedding day.
What many couples don’t realise is that your flowers arrive with me 2–3 days before your wedding. This gives me time to carefully condition every stem and leave them to drink for at least 24 hours before I begin creating your bouquets and floral designs.

This behind the scenes preparation plays a huge part in how beautifully your flowers last from your morning preparations through to your evening celebrations.

I specialise exclusively in fresh flowers because nothing compares to their natural beauty, movement and scent. With the right preparation, fresh flowers are made to be enjoyed throughout your wedding day.

Creating your friends wedding florals is an absolute honour đŸ€

When Faye asked me to create the flowers for her wedding at Ramside Treehouse, it felt incredibly special. Knowing she trusted me with such an important part of her day meant so much.

One of my favourite details was her bouquet. Faye asked for peonies, her favorite flower, carnations for her mum and freesia for Liam’s mum, adding an extra personal touch and making it far more than just a beautiful bouquet. It became something deeply meaningful to carry down the aisle.

It’s these thoughtful details that make wedding flowers so personal and such a privilege to create.
