🎫 A couple of tickets left for 19th June’s Invitation to View - a private house, ancient barns and garden tour - with coffee and cake to set you up on arrival!

🍰 Why not bring a friend who might like a bit of history and gloriousness in summer where our guests aren’t usually allowed to peek! Whether your interests are in Tudor and Georgian architecture; talk of archaeology, ancestral owners and bats of Milden; ancient barns; ancient maps and art on the walls; or a romantic walled garden and large weedy vegetable patch … we’ve got it!

🌾 And if you’d like a potter on the farm after the two-hour tour on our lovely farm trails through ancient meadows and picnic by a pond, you would be most welcome!

We’re absolutely loving this warm weather to mark the first day of spring! And nothing says springtime like primroses in flower.

Song thrushes singing, newts courting, brimstone butterflies on the wing… it’s glorious here ☀️

Happy Global Recycling Day! 🌍♻️

We’re proud to be here at Milden Hall, committed to reducing waste and encouraging our guests to join us on our green journey. Our environmental policy is at the heart of everything we do and in 2002, we won Suffolk’s first Gold Award for Green Tourism.

Here are just some of the ways we are making a difference - and how you can too:

🗑️ Recycling with purpose – We recycle all guest bottles, cans and paper, often raising funds for charity in the process. We combine bottle bank runs with other trips to avoid extra car journeys.
🌱 Composting for good – We use our own compost to reduce peat digging elsewhere.
🚰 Ditching single use plastics – We urge guests to bring reusable bottles as our tap water tastes great!
🥗 Reducing food waste – We encourage guests to bring tupperware to take home any leftovers.
❌ Saying no to microplastics – We don’t allow glitter or sequins and ask guests to bring biodegradable decorations only.
🧦 Creative upcycling – We turn abandoned odd socks into lavender bags and loo rolls get a second life sowing sweet peas.
🧴 Conscious shopping – We avoid over-packaged products and choose refillable goods like Faith In Nature.
🥤Community clean-ups – Every Mother’s Day weekend, our family heads out for a local litter pick.

These small actions contribute to reducing our collective carbon footprint. Small steps make a big difference. Global Recycling Day 💪

Winter hedge planting and gapping up in wonderful sunshine a few weeks back. Thanks to The Woodland Trust and Suffolk Tree Warden Scheme for free trees for this and other projects in Milden parish. 🌱☀️
