It’s one of the hottest days of the year… which *obviously* makes it the perfect time to talk about Christmas Markets & Fairs. 😬

If you’re a maker, creative, foodie or artisan, now’s the time to get your festive plans sorted.

Applications are open for our two really popular Christmas market events, both in one beautiful historic venue! Great value, fantastic footfall, and shoppers who love supporting independent businesses.

Spaces are disappearing faster than an ice cream in 30degs, so don’t leave it too long.

Head to the links on our website to complete an application form! We’d love to hear from you.

It’s been one of those weeks where a small amount of noise from the sidelines has demanded more attention than it deserved. On top of that, we’ve also had some maintenance work done, attended external meetings, had some exciting event planning conversations, and had some training. So, if you’re waiting to hear from us, or waiting for something from us, thank you very much for your patience; we’re on catch-up!

Today has been an absolute joy, though! Here’s a photo from first thing this morning as Suffolk Market Events Farmers Market was setting up and we were arriving for the day.

Our railings are looking beautiful thanks to the fabulous flowers provided by The Garden Nursery and , brightening everyone’s day. 🌸

We pootled around the busy market, enjoyed a delicious lunch from Meena, picked up some treats from the Norwegian 🇳🇴 Bakers, and even found a Yak chew for a very good dog! 🐶

Peter the Peregrine made an appearance on the tower again, no doubt eyeing up the dirty pigeons* (Bonus points available for naming the Britpop reference).

To top it all off, we were treated to fantastic free Friday live music in the arts centre from talented harpist Anne Chorley, accompanied by Roger Green, performing to a really appreciative busy house. Our sewing group loved stitching along to the music, and they’re now beginning to sell some of their handmade creations. All of this to help raise funds for the arts centre, for which we are very grateful 🧵🎶🙌🏼

We’re back again tomorrow from 10am, and at midday we’ll be joined by one of our favourite musicians Daniel Stephen Turner who leads our ever growing Songwriters’ Circle. We may even wheel out the piano for a few tunes! 🎹

So why not pop in and say hello? Treat yourself to one of Jonny’s delicious iced coffees and a slice of Lemon Blondie. We also have oat milk, decaf, vegan and gluten-free options, and even a local beer or glass of wine - so there’s something for everyone.

See you tomorrow! 🙌🏼❤️

A chilled out midsummer week at the Arts Centre here in St Peter’s

From 11am today we have our free Stitch & Sip group for keen makers - all abilities welcome and its free to join in.

At 12:30 we have a free lunchtime music session with amazing harpist Anne Chorley. Step away from the madness of life for a while, close your eyes and just listen. Anne will be accompanied by Roger Green on the piano.

Saturday from midday until 2-ish Songwriters Circle - a relaxed place to come along and share your own compositions with fellow songwriters. Don’t be shy - all are welcome. Led by Daniel Stephen Turner

These events and activities are free so that everyone has an opportunity to experience live music and creative activities, but donations are welcomed from those that can afford it. All donations go towards ensuring we can continue to facilitate our free community groups and activities. Thank you.

PS: don’t forget to look up at the tower before you come in - you might see Peter the Peregrine if you look closely!

For all peregrine guardians in the community, please note there will be workmen on the church roof today to undertake essential maintenance, so don’t worry if you see them. They are fully aware of Peter Peregrine and will do everything to avoid disturbing him.

Thank you for keeping an eye out for him.

Tweet of the Day 🪶 RIP Bill Oddie

With so much interest in Peter the Peregrine, who is currently hunting pigeons and scoping potential suitable nesting spots on our tower, we thought you might like to hear this short clip of the late Bill Oddie talking about Peregrines, and the clip includes the call of the Peregrine.

How you remember Bill Oddie defines your age somewhat. Either as a very very funny member of The Goodies, or later as a champion of nature, and all about bird conservation. Or both!
