There’s been a LOT of dancing in Sudbury Arts Centre recently; from South African pantsula dancing to French and European Balfolk. And it doesn’t stop as we have Belchamp Morris coming for a taster session this Saturday and then family Hallowe’en fun with not one but three Morris sides coming to dance-off while you make Green Man masks!

We’re sorry for any inconvenience, but we will be closed to the public Monday 5th October to Friday 9th October while we complete our planned upgrade to our lighting system.

CLIP is still happening but won’t be onsite this week. Participants will have had contact from the guys at CLIP with alternative arrangements involving 🦇!

DeCafé and Stitch&Sip will be back next week.

We have some staff members on holiday this week, but will be monitoring emails and working on admin from Wednesday.

Saturday it’s Songwriters Circle during the day and Rude & Reckless bring the ska and rocksteady in the evening. 🕺

More dance and live music on Sunday as we bring the Balfolk to Sudbury. Think ceilidh but French! With talented instruction and sounds from Bof! And Corbeau, its fun for the whole family.

Tuesday tidbit: Who or what exactly are we? 🤔

We’re Sudbury Arts Centre, the organisation you see running live events, exhibitions, workshops, community activities, markets and the café/bar from St Peter’s, Sudbury.

But there’s an important bit of the story you might not know…

Sudbury Arts Centre is operated by the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), the national charity that cares for redundant historic churches across England (almost 360 of them)!

St Peter’s was closed by the Church of England, and declared redundant in 1976 - 50 years ago this year! At that point, all legal responsibility for the building transferred to the CCT.

The CCT works with local communities to give these remarkable buildings new lives as cultural, social, tourism and educational resources.

And we’re delighted that Sudbury Arts Centre has been featured as a highlight of the year in the CCT’s latest Annual Review. ❤️

But none of what happens here happens without you. Whether you buy a ticket, stop for a cuppa, share one of our social media posts, partner with us, volunteer, or help support a fundraising concert or creative workshop - thank you.

Every bit of support helps us keep St Peter’s open, active and useful to the community.

Thanks to those that visited the Peter Partington exhibition in our little chapel gallery this week. Thank you to Jerome Partington for bringing Peter’s art and creating a fitting tribute to his father.

Today - a drop in follow up cafe to the People’s Emergency Briefing hosted by members of Sudbury Climate Voices is taking place from 10am to midday, and the final day of the fabulous Peter Partington exhibition from 10-3

Our coffee bar is open too, and Sudbury Market is in full flow outside.
