Not the best weather often translates to a great party and couples enjoyed a Ceremony in the West Barn and a drinks reception on the dance floor before feasting in the main South Barn.

Inevitably smaller guests were not too worried about a bit of wet and raced around the courtyard and gardens.

The real behind the scenes stuff that people either don’t think about or take for granted.

For example: Coach or bus parking and turning … is this something your venue can accommodate and how will it work on the day?

Shout out to the mini bus, bus and coach drivers using the old sugar beet clamp (concrete car park) to deliver and collect couples and guests. We try very hard to keep this area free of guest and suppliers cars to give them a good welcome.

Cutting a cake is a ceremonial and joyous event. Here the MC leads the prayer for ‘Long Life and Prosperity’ as the couple hold the knife and cut the cake.

Mimi & Josh Yoruba Ceremony

The first of this couple’s two weddings took place at the Barns yesterday .. a traditional Nigerian Yoruba Engagement Ceremony also known as a Traditional Wedding.

The celebration was led by UK Alaga and MC and was made up of several stages in which the the two families meet, the grooms family requests the brides family’s consent for the two to marry. The groom is introduced and is asked to demonstrate his suitability before the bride is brought forward veiled as a mark of modesty and then unveiled by the groom’s family. Gifts are given and received and the bride places a cap on her groom by way of acceptance of his proposal. Each stage is accompanied by much ceremony, talking drums, various supporting entourages, dancing and singing. All in all a wonderful colourful celebration of two families joining together.

Gorgeous preview images of Saturday’s wedding at Alpheton Church and reception at the Barns, all in glorious sunshine followed by amazing evening light. With thanks to photographer

Rosy & Sam laid on a proper feast with a chef allocated on each table (complete with chefs hat and apron) to carve the beef and with pizza, an ice cream van and coffee shed in the evening doing a great job of fuelling guests to get back in the dance floor. And as ever an Open Bar went down very well with guests.

A glorious sunny day, guests enjoyed drinks, canapés and music from a duo from before heading into the Barns for a wedding breakfast expertly crafted by and drinks by amongst flowers relocated from the ceremony barn by

The glorious weather meant all big Barn doors open bringing the outside in.

Following the cutting of a delicious cake by guests danced to the full line up followed by evening pizza and a DJ set.

The couple were aiming for relaxed with (as there were plenty of children in the party) the right amount of chaotic fun and their day definitely delivered!

What to do when the worst happens!

When John & Ben’s original venue closed and cancelled their date all their plans were up in the air but they kept calm and got on the phone.

They came to view the Barns with a team that they were anxious to keep if they could, even if that meant delaying their date. And then added a few Barns regulars to complete their plans.
