A seasonal conversation S P R I N G is here!

Special thanks to for letting us create in their bluebell encrusted woodland

And of course thanks to for making something good look gooder

GOLDEN VALLEY was commissioned by for COMMON GROUND, an exhibition guest curated by artist

The exhibition explores stories of change, loss, rebellion and reclamation in relation to common land and the natural environment.
Including contemporary artists’ responses to our relationship with landscape as humans through reconnecting with place and redefining narratives.

GOLDEN VALLEY is a sculpted landscape installation inspired by the farming heritage of the local area.

The use of raw sheeps wool is informed by the rich textile history of the area; the five Golden Valleys, so named after its monetary wealth created in the processing and trading of wool since the medieval period.
Crop and livestock farming is also nodded to with wheat, oats, barley, hay & straw.
Cotswold stone & thatching straws are used within the installation depicting the building resources that the local landscape also provides.

GOLDEN VALLEY is a demonstration of the impact plants and the landscape have on the course of history as our reliance on nature as a resource.

COMMON GROUND is showing at until 31st August and includes so many talented artists work and interesting artefacts from the museums collection.

Honored and delighted to have exhibited at flower festival for its 6th year along side SO MANY other talented & inspiring designers to champion British grown flowers.
The house is practically bursting at the seams with beauty when empty and then the flowers arrive and it increases tenfold.

Thank you .chappell.flowers & for having me and for the brilliant job you do at curating the festival each year.

‘Harvesting purpose’ is an observance and creative response to that which the land provides, from produce to fibres to building materials and of course, flowers.
Taking these materials out of their practical context and into a floral display invites comparison & questions a deeper understanding to the use of cut flowers and that which is gathered from the earth for the purpose of creating beauty.

APPLECORE:
An exploration into conceptual botanical design centered around the apple.

After lunch you will work collectively with your fellow creatives to build a large-scale free standing sculpture based on ideas, stories & symbolism of apple within the year.

Using techniques learnt in the morning on a larger scale, you will create an installation where apples & flowers work together to tell a visual story to the backdrop of the picturesque growing spaces on the land at

will be documenting the day with artful photography of both the creative process & the finished designs which are free to be used for portfolio building.

See previous post for the mornings’ practice.

Applecore, 22nd September.

An exploration into conceptual botanical design centered around the apple.

The day will be split into 2 halves of the same apple, during the morning you will create organic sculptural forms using apples & branches and encase your own autumnal flower arrangement within, a walk around the grounds at will see you forage for found shapes and textures to add a unique quality to your arrangements.

You will be guided to create forms that are free & nature inspired using sustainable methods of binding, fixing & arranging.
These curations will then form a harvest tablescape created outdoors using props, seasonal produce, & found objects.
This altar will become the table in which we break for the provided lunch prepared on site.

To learn about the 2nd half of the day & for booking, go to the link in bio.
