The OD&V team spent last week in Cambridge, supporting the delivery of the Molecular Biology of Archaea 2026 Workshop at the fabulous (and air-conditioned 😅) MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology 🧑‍🔬🧫🧬

It was a packed week for delegates travelling to the city from all over the world, with welcome receptions, a formal dinner at Gonville & Caius College, punting on the Cam under fabulous blue skies, and a BBQ with dancing at Fitzwilliam College. We found plenty of ways to keep cool and hydrated during the heatwave!

Rose and Madalina ended the trip with a visit to Jesus College, where they met up with Soniya Sawant to discuss the upcoming EUVAS 2026 conference coming to the city this September.

We spent two wonderful days in for the Excellence Awards 2025, hugging, chatting, exchanging 'war stories' with friends and peers - we've been involved with ABPCO for well over a decade and this event is one of the highlights of our year. Lunchtime award ceremonies might be unusual, but we make it sparkling and glamorous ✨🌟✨

It was the biggest awards event we've ever had AND double special, is was Heather's farewell ❤️ Mrs ABPCO, aka Heather Lishman, taking early retirement - after 14 remarkable years of leadership as association director - was not on our bingo cards for 2025 & we just had to send her off in style!

Triple special was our nomination for the the Best Partnership award, in recognition of our ongoing collaboration with MeetCambridge - long may it continue! It's been 10 years since we entered the awards, so we were delighted to be shortlisted 🎉🥳

Next week we'll be heading to the ABPCO Excellence Awards, where we're finalists alongside Meet Cambridge in the Best Partnership category!

Here at OD&V, we're strong advocates of the work that ABPCO does to support our industry, and we couldn't be more honoured to go to the event and celebrate all that's good about our community of PCOs, suppliers and venues.
