COUNTERFEIT BANK NOTES 💷

We have had reports from a number of market traders that some counterfeit notes were being used in Helmsley last Friday.
Attached is a photo for your information and what to look out for. The top note is genuine and the bottom is fake, you can see where the centre has worn away and the holographic Big Ben is yellow rather than gold.

If you receive cash as payment, please check the notes are genuine before handing over any goods.

The Bank of England has a number of other tips for telling genuine pound notes from counterfeit ones:

⏺Tilt the note from side to side. Check the words change between 'Twenty' and 'Pounds'.

▶️Look at the metallic image over the main window. Check the foil is blue and gold on the front of the note and silver on the back. Look for a second, smaller window in the bottom corner of the note.

⏺A portrait of the Queen is printed on the window with '£20 Bank of England’ printed twice around the edge.

▶️A silver foil patch contains a 3D image of the coronation crown. You will find this above the main see-through window on the front of the note.

⏺A round, purple foil patch contains the letter 'T'. You will find this on the back of the note, directly behind the silver crown on the front of the note.

▶️The note is printed on polymer, which is a thin and flexible plastic material. On the front of the note, you can feel raised print. For example, on the words ‘Bank of England’ and in the bottom right corner, over the smaller window.

⏺The printed lines and colours on the note are sharp, clear and free from smudges or blurred edges. If you use a magnifying glass, you will see the value of the note written in small letters and numbers below the Queen's portrait.

▶️Under a good quality ultra-violet light, the number '20' appears in bright red and green on the front of the note, against a duller background.

The latest addition to our UK sister stable is a Blondie tribute; Kinda Blondie. A new live 5-piece. I've seen them in action at rehearsal and they are just so entretaining it's unreal. I saw Blondie in 1979 in New Jersey - they were more like this live than in their videos: full of power and energy.

They are also recording some tracks that, back in the day, could have been Blondie songs. I'm intrigued!

Contact us for 2025 onwards and we'll send previews. They won't be posting anything so if you want to see them you have to go see them... a gamble? Maybe... Let's see...

CUSTOM BACKING TRACKS: Our team creates bespoke backing tracks for bands and solo artists - particularly tributes and covers. All tracks just £25 each plus any further editing you want is charged at £20 per edit.

With over 75,000 tracks and rising daily, we can provide pretty much any popular song since the 50's.

We break tracks down into individual instruments, in your preferred key, with or without harmonies or vocals, and you can choose what you want included. We can edit in/out specific parts like guitar or sax solos so you can perform them.

We can add just single instruments or specific instruments with or without click tracks that your drummer can play along with to fatten out your sound or replace instruments where a band member can't make it.

For example; no keys player? We'll give you just the isolated keyboards in the right channel and click track in the left. Just plug and play on any MP3 or WAV file player.

Solo tribute act? No problem. Tell us the songs you want and how you want them. These are custom to you in a range of keys, usually plus or minus four semitones. They are not your standard karaoke track with just the lead vocal removed. All are professionally recorded and mixed.
