Are you ready for tonight?
"The Girl in White"
They say Cannock Chase holds more than just ancient woodland and winding trails. Some whisper of shadows that move against the trees… and eyes that watch when no one should be there.
It was a fog-choked evening when Liam and Sarah decided to take a shortcut through the forest. Locals warned against it after dark, especially near the old stone quary. But the thrill of the unknown was too tempting for two amateur ghost hunters.
Halfway in, the forest fell silent. Not a bird. Not a breeze. Just the thick fog wrapping around them like a cold breath.
That’s when they saw her.
A little girl, maybe seven years old, stood in the middle of the path in a white dress, her eyes wide and… completely black. No whites. No irises. Just two voids staring into their souls.
"Are you lost?" Sarah whispered, more to break the silence than anything else.
The girl tilted her head slowly. "You shouldn't be here."
Liam took a step back. The air turned colder.
Then, without moving her legs, the girl glided backward into the trees—fading like mist, her voice trailing in the wind:
"He sees you now."
They ran. Tripped. Didn’t stop until the lights of the nearby road blurred through their tears.
They never spoke of that night again. But Liam still wakes sometimes, choking on fog, the echo of a child’s voice in his ears.
And in the distance… the crunch of footsteps on leaves that no one else hears.
