Yesterday we had a small fire in the shop involving one of our plug-in electric heaters.
๐ช๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐น๐๐ฐ๐ธ๐.
Sophie happened to be sitting at the desk trying to get Oasis tickets ๐ and spotted it straight away. Liv and I were both in dressing rooms with brides, so had Sophie not been sitting there at that exact moment, it could have been a very different story.
Thankfully we caught it quickly, used the fire extinguisher and it was contained. Everyone was safe and, in the grand scheme of things, the damage is minor. A few of our sample dresses have been damaged, the carpet has definitely seen better days ๐ and weโll probably need to do a bit of decorating.
๐๐๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐น๐ฑ ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ผ ๐บ๐๐ฐ๐ต ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ.
A HUGE thank you to our brides and their families who were absolutely amazing while we dealt with it, even with the fire alarm going off in the middle of their appointments ๐ And thank you to the lovely people passing outside who stopped to check that we were all OK. โค๏ธ
But the biggest reason I wanted to post this is because it really has been a bit of a wake-up call.

And as we head into the colder months, please check on elderly relatives, neighbours or anyone you know who relies on one for extra warmth too.
These heaters are used in homes everywhere over winter and yesterday showed us just how quickly something can happen. We were incredibly lucky because Sophie was sitting right there and noticed it straight away.
Had this been in somebodyโs home while they were asleep, had popped into another room or simply hadnโt noticed straight away, it could have been a very different outcome.
So if this post does anything, hopefully it just makes a few people check theirs today. โค๏ธ
Weโre all absolutely fine and, thankfully, weโre only dealing with a few damaged samples, a bit of decorating and a carpet that is definitely beyond saving. ๐
