I always know it’s going to be a good day when I leave feeling like I’ve gained new friends and several completely bizarre conversation topics. Yesterday brought hot sunshine, confetti cannons, lots of laughter, and two people who made documenting their day feel ridiculously easy. The dream!

Social media is stressful. There, I said it.

I have thousands of beautiful photos and films I could post. I can spend hours writing thoughtful captions. I can build content plans and chase algorithms.

But unless you’re actively looking for a wedding photographer, and very specifically one like me, it’s mostly just time thrown into the wind.

So I’m trying something different.

I’m treating this like a little diary.

I’ll still share the weddings, the moments I loved, the venues I’m obsessed with. But the captions are just going to be me.

For example, today has mostly been about building my new film delivery system before wedding season kicks off. Instead of paying nearly £1000 to renew our old platform, I coded my own. I’m ridiculously proud of it. It’s cheaper, cleaner, and actually easier for couples to use.

There’s an absurd amount of bandwidth currently running through my poor router while I download my entire back catalogue and reupload it into the new system. But it’s meant I can sit in Albert’s play area with him, half watching progress bars, which is actually quite a nice way to work.

I’m meeting a potential childminder on Friday so he’s sorted before the season starts. It breaks my heart a little. But he’s such a sociable boy he’ll probably have far more fun than sitting next to me watching download screens all day.

Anyway. This is the new flex.
