Well… first festival officially done! 🙌

And what can I say? I’m so glad I went. Dubs at the lakes was a complete crash course in festival life, and absolutely fantastic.

Friday started with the heavens opening and an early night — although plenty of people were still happily dancing and drinking! There is also something slightly surreal about occasionally popping your head out of the gazebo and being greeted by heads on sticks… but apparently there’s no telling what you’ll find at a festival. 😂

Saturday brought better weather, fantastic people, chats, laughs, lovely food and time to actually relax and enjoy being there. The other stallholders were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and having a friend come along for part of it added another lovely dimension to the weekend.

Then Sunday was just gorgeous — sunshine, some extremely questionable tan lines, and a slap-up breakfast at Hubbles, who did an amazing job considering how busy they were!

And yes, apparently I was “roughing it” with hot showers, hot food and a cooked breakfast. I can live with that version of roughing it. 😂

This year being at Fendicks Fishery was always about experiencing it, understanding how everything works and finding my feet. Baby steps. I’ve come away with exactly what I needed: experience, ideas, information and a much clearer picture of what CP Creative Minds could bring next time.

There’s plenty of work to do between now and then, but I’m already excited.

We would like to thank everyone who had reached out with positive comments and some things to improve for next year .
This was our very first festival so did expect there to be things we would need to change .

Toilets - we actually had a total of 26 toilets on site plus lots of urinals .
We only had two placed on general camp field as the main campsite toilets were just in the next camping area and thought the porta loos would be used as the emergency in the night toilet.
Sunday we did notice lots of people emptying their toilet waste into them which causes an imbalance of chemicals and causes extra smells .
We had two elsan emptying points on the campsite and appreciate people might not if realised this .
Main toilets blocks emptied 3 times over the weekend .
And cleaning staff checking these every couple of hours throughout the day.
So next year we can place more porta loos on that area and will include in the arrivals bags a map showing where the main toilet blocks showers and elsan points are .

Pitch sizes . We have listened and we will make them bigger next year .
We did advertise they were 6x6m and the tickets did state this . Anyone who messaged us as needed extra space due to large awnings etc we did our best to accommodate this .

We hope to secure the feild behind which will give us much more camping space .

We already have a plan to make arriving and checking in run more smoothly .

Show n shine
Mixed views on this one , as lots commented on they like the best in show idea and not having to move their vehicles into a lineup .
Some would prefer to have all displayed together .
Possibly thinking on the Sunday have a display area for those that wish too.

Traders - more vw related
First show it was very hard to get the bigger vw traders on-board.
Vantastic were booked in but due to staffing issues unfortunately had to cancel last minute.
Auto jumble can offer more of.

Hopefully these changes will make a big difference.

Thank you all so much for supporting our first Dubs at the lakes! It wouldn't be what it was without all you great vdubbers!
What an amazing weekend with such a great vibe .
Also thank you to all our performers who sets were all amazing!
The staff and fendicks Fishery for agreeing to hold the event there . The traders and the street food stalls who kept us all going over the weekend!
