From the family of Wilf Hunter

It's with immense sadness that we share the passing of Wilf (Wilfred) Hunter on the Saturday 25th July, Dad was always surrounded by his family, that characterised his whole life. He will be forever missed by his family, wife Elaine of 60years, sons Tony (Antony) and Graham, daughter in laws and grandchildren.

If you would like to join us to celebrate Wilf's life, a service will be held at Maplewood Chapel, Stockton Crematorium (TS19 9NA), on 26 August at 2pm, followed by a gathering afterwards.

The family would also like to express their thanks to all the Carers, Nurses and Doctors for their incredible support during the last few months.

Just a reminder that the community centre is now open and Ali is there for you to pick up your unclaimed raffle prizes.

Don't forget that this Wednesday is 'Wednesday Welcome' Day! Come along and have a free cuppa, a snack and a chat with like-minded people! Have a game of dominoes or just chill and enjoy the company!

This week due to the hot weather (and the fact that we have a bit left over from the Village Fayre) there will be ice cream - and lollies if you would like to bring the little ones! All free!

It all starts at 10am on 8th July!

Ooooo - nearly forgot, come and see our new tables and chairs, all financed from last years events!

Thank you so much to all of the people who donated prizes for the Raffle and Tombola at Saturdays Summer Fayre. Thanks also to those that attended and supported this longstanding annual event, it's fair to say a great time was had by all and thankfully the weather was kind.

We can now reveal the results of the raffle that was drawn on the field at 3.30pm. Many prizes were picked up on the day but there are a few that are still to be claimed. These can be picked up from the Community Centre at the Wednesday Welcome, 8th July 10am - 12.30 or Sunday 12th July 10am - 11am>

Plans are already underway for next years event!

Thank you so much to all of the people on the High Street who donated prizes for the raffle and tombola to Ali and Lou on Saturday evening. We are always amazed by your generosity! It looks like we will only be able to do one more tour around the Village with the cart so if we don't get to you remember you can drop any donations into the Wellington Inn or if you prefer let us know and we can come and collect!

All of the proceeds from the Village Fayre go to improving the service WVA can provide for the benefit of the Community. Look out for some fantastic news coming later this week!

It's only just over a week to the Summer Fayre on 4th July and our grandkids Finn and Maisie have been busy baking cakes for the cake stall! However, we still need more as they ate most of them!

If anyone would like to bake some for us you can bring them along to the Community Centre on the morning of the Fayre, we will be there from 9am! Thank you! 🍰

Don't forget it is our fortnightly Wednesday Welcome this Wednesday (well it would be)! It is now less than two weeks to our Summer Fayre so if you have any donations for the Raffle and Tombola then please drop them in between 10am and 12.30pm. You can also have a free cuppa while you are there. I'm not promising scones because as I speak Ali and Val are still in Corfu but they are back tomorrow so, you never know! 🤞

If you missed our collections at the door and would like to make a donation the staff at the Wellington Arms (the Welly) have kindly agreed to accepting donations there.
