🔥 AUGUST — THE BIG ONE 🔥

Next August, I begin my first-ever walk to all 92 Football League Clubs across England.
That’s around 2,000 miles, completed with Toby the 25kg fridge on my back — all to support our campaign:

If anyone would like to join me for a leg of the journey — walking from one club to the next — your support would mean the world.
Please inbox me if you’d like to get involved. 💚💚✊

What did we learn from the conversations on our walk?

So many honest conversations took place—more than I ever expected.

Women shared their own mental health journeys. Parents of teenagers opened up about their worries for their children’s futures.
But interestingly, the majority of people who chose to stop and talk were middle-aged men.

I asked everyone the same question I always ask:
“What do you do to improve your health?”

The most common response from men was:
➡️ “We just get on with it.”
The second most common?
➡️ Drinking.

For many men, alcohol remains the go-to coping mechanism when things get tough. Not talking. Not seeking support. Not healthier outlets—just pushing through or numbing emotions.

These conversations were a powerful reminder of why open dialogue matters. People genuinely want to be heard. And men, especially, need safer spaces to talk about what they’re carrying.

QUESTIONS I ASKED — AND WHAT PEOPLE TOLD ME

Was Toby the Fridge helpful in starting conversations?
➡️ Yes — it was a revelation and broke the ice immediately.
99%

Does the country need a new strategy for mental health treatment?
➡️ Overwhelmingly yes.
93%

Should mental health be on the school curriculum?
➡️ Absolutely — it would help young people understand that it’s OK to talk about their feelings.
81%

Should there be an alternative to the NHS specifically for mental health — perhaps a UK Mental Health Service?
➡️ Most people believe a pilot project should at least be trialled.
98%

How many people said they had experienced suicidal thoughts in the past 12 months?
➡️ A heartbreaking 71%

Is taking mental health on the road with the fridge a good idea?
➡️ The strongest YES of all.
99%

well,
we met some incredible people on this Journey including Jurgen and his wonderful wife Ange.
The individuals we met on route that spoke to us about how they were feeling most for the first time i will be staying in touch with everyone of you some will join me walking on our next adventure i look forward to that so much.
Did we serve our purpose 100% and Toby the Fridge played a major part breaking the ice every single encounter I will continue to do as much as i can in raising awareness for this heinous illness Which is often silent and Invisible! we must all make sure to do our bit to change this and kill the Stigma forever reassuring everyone it’s really OK to talk, plain and simple.

Don’t suffer in silence, be brave, and talk to someone, anyone.
Finally, we have witnessed hate speech and other obstacles through out this walk which is extremely painful dangerous and sad 😔 the only looser is the very thing we are trying to achieve.
If you cannot say anything positive don’t say anything at all Words hurt, offend, and can quite often tip someone over the edge.
to the Legend who was there for me at every moment i have only a few words Mally, you were the absolute reason i made it to the other end your words of wisdom and mentoring will stay with me forever in a day,in more ways than you will ever know. THANK YOU 💚✊

End of the first Chapter 💙 A Message from The Man With The Fridge

Well, today marks the end of our formal commitments in raising mental health and su***de awareness — and what an incredible journey it’s been. 💙

From Teesside to Benidorm, every single mile has carried a purpose — to spark conversation, raise awareness, and show that no one walks alone. 👣💙

Massive thanks to our Sponsors and Donors who made this walk possible 🙏

To Mally, my lead vehicle driver who stayed with me right to the end — couldn’t have done it without you, mate! 🚙💪

And to the amazing Ibrox Bar Benidorm, Uncle Ron’s Bar, and Scavengers MC — your support has been unbelievable. 💥

To everyone who sent messages, shared posts, donated, or even flew out to welcome me — you’ve all been part of something truly special.
I’ll never forget it. 💙

Now it’s time for me to check in with my doctors and make sure I’m looking after my own mental health before the next adventure begins. 🧠💪
