Since starting my business in 2023, I’ve been fortunate enough to work from my home studio. As a result, my overheads are lower than those of a traditional florist shop or commercial studio, and I’ve always tried to reflect this in my pricing by keeping my bouquets affordable.
However, today I received an enquiry from a prospective new customer, someone who doesn’t currently follow my page. After sharing this photo as an example of what they could expect from a £25 gift bouquet, they felt that £25 was too expensive.
It did make me stop and reflect on my pricing, particularly as industry-standard pricing would place a bouquet like this closer to £35.
While I completely appreciate that everyone has different budgets and expectations, I’ve always tried to offer beautiful, quality flowers at a fair and accessible price.
If anything, it’s made me wonder whether, rather than questioning if £25 is too expensive, I should actually be considering whether I’m charging enough to fairly reflect the flowers, time, care and creativity that go into each bouquet.
