A Message to All Members, Past Players, Committee and Friends of Tweedbank Indoor Bowling Club
It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the decision has been taken to close Tweedbank Indoor Bowling Club.
This is devastating news for everyone connected with the club, and we want to take a moment to recognise what this club has meant to so many over the years.
To all those who have played at the club, whether for a season or a lifetime, thank you. You are the heart of this club. The friendships formed, the competitions fought, the laughter shared, and the memories created on our carpet and stadium will never be taken away.
To our committee members, past and present, your dedication, time, and commitment have kept this club running through challenges and successes alike. The effort you have given, often behind the scenes and without recognition, has been nothing short of extraordinary.
To our wider community and friends, those who supported us, encouraged us, and stood beside us, you have made this club more than just a place to play bowls. You have made it a home.
We are incredibly proud of what Tweedbank Indoor Bowling Club has achieved. From producing multiple international players to winning Scottish titles and who can forget the gents historic Scottish cup final win in 2009. From welcoming new members to supporting those who simply needed a place to belong, this club has been a cornerstone of the bowling community.
Today, however, we cannot hide how we feel. We are deeply upset and profoundly disappointed by this decision. We condemn the closure of Tweedbank Indoor Bowling Club in the strongest possible terms. We firmly believe this decision fails to recognise the value of what we have built here, not just as a sporting venue, but as a vital community lifeline.
We also believe this decision has been made without a full understanding of our sport or our club, by individuals who have little connection to bowling and, in many cases, may never have set foot in our stadium or seen first-hand the value it brings to so many people.
While we may have played our last end, the spirit of this club will not be extinguished. The friendships, the achievements, and the sense of community we have created together will endure.
Thank you to each and every one of you for being part of Tweedbank Indoor Bowling Club.
With gratitude, pride, and sadness,
Malky ThinPresidentTweedbank Indoor Bowling Club
