So good to meet up again with author Lesley Thomson at Storrington Library on Monday, celebrating her new intriguing thriller The Shrine, where we encounter once more feisty house cleaning sleuth Stella Darnell, the detective's daughter. On SATURDAY 13th JUNE local children's author JIM BECKETT will be hanging out at the shop all day signing copies of his new book BUZZ AND THE BIRTHDAY MYSTERY. There will be PARTY GAMES and TREATS to munch for kids who buy a BUZZ book, too!

Today we visited Southway Junior school in Burgess Hill and Windmills School in Hassocks, where pupils and teachers were mesmerised by Chris's incredible drawing skills and entertaining anecdotes! ✍️ We took wonderful illustrator and author to Orchards Junior School and today where he wowed the pupils with his live drawing skills, told funny stories about being naughty in church, and sketched 🧜‍♀️magical mermaids, flying horses, cats wearing glasses and even a few quick pics of the teachers and children!

Out today! Maggie O'Farrell's new novel, LAND! The proof copy of this has been passed around all our staff and universally adored.
It's a deep, elemental story of resilience and survival, interweaving the stories of one Irish family, with those of the land itself, and those who lie beneath.
1865: On a windswept peninsula, Tomas and his reluctant son Liam are working on the great Ordnance Survey project to map the whole of Ireland. The task is not an easy one in a country decimated by the Great Hunger, and Tomas is determined that his maps will be a record of the disaster.
After Tomas is sent off kilter by an unsettling encounter with a sacred well, a chain of events is set in motion which will ripple through the lives of Tomas and his family for decades.

Phew! We've gone straight from the whirl of the Steyning Festival into school author visits with the lovely K.R Thompson! Kate is the author of the Werelock & Scratch series of mystery stories, which follow the adventures of a Werewolf and raven detective duo and are full of clever codes to crack and clues to scrutinise!
Thanks to all the children at St Mary's school in Pulborough, and St Nicolas and St Mary's school in Shoreham for joining in so brilliantly and cracking all the clues and codes in Kate's fantastic assembly!
