A Curious Arrangement

A Curious Arrangement Cultivation. Design. Alchemy And enduring love of feeling my hands in the dirt. The sense of achievement from planting a seed and watching shoots emerge.

The wonderment in taking waste vegetable matter and turning it into compost... Art, design, photography. Nature, life and death. All celebrated with flowers.

Special people, special places. That just about sums up an A Curious Arrangement wedding. Fiona and Adam chose Gosford House to host their celebration and the ambient cool of The Marble Hall could not have been more perfect on a warm day for the flowers. Upstairs in The Saloon together with .uk we laid the tables for a wedding banquet complete with a soup made to Fiona’s Granny’s recipe. Out talk whilst working though was of ice cream.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Roe. Wishing you every happiness.

A little peony moment with a few late bloomers which didn’t make it into last weekends wedding . Arrive at various stages of maturity and sometimes those stubborn little golf balls refuse to unfurl in time to be of any use whatsoever, but they always come good in their own time.

It’s blossom season and we couldn’t be happier.

May is a frothy month with lots of fluffy bits, oodles of pink and copious twisty, twiddly stems. Sunshine and showers are also in evidence but when has that ever stopped an outdoor ceremony?

You choose the space, we create the magic.

Let’s be honest, every single Scottish Castle is incredible. You chose it for its sumptuous interior, quirky staircases, wonderful art or its role in history.

It doesn’t need much decoration, right?

Wrong!

Flowers make it yours. They make it personal. They make it intimate. They make it special. Their scent creates a memory which will take you back to that place, your special day when you catch the same floral notes on a breeze when you least expect it.

This account was is in danger of becoming inactive as our work keeps the hands and minds too busy to snap images, managing time and planning logistics despite being surrounded by beauty. Today is a planning day in the workshop, sorting out vessels and preparing them with chicken wire for imminent events, setting up a station for polishing candlesticks and brass as well as composting and cleaning. The sun is shining and urging us to begin the day.

Leonardo da Vinci

I’m currently studying the life of Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci with a new appreciation for his work and that of his contemporaries. Likewise, I can’t fail to recognise the talent of my contemporary who took these photographs of my hands and flowers a couple of weeks ago.
