💚 We've been a little quiet... but there's been a good reason!
If you've noticed we've been unusually quiet on here recently, we promise we haven't disappeared! 🦎
Behind the scenes, the last couple of months have probably been some of the busiest we've had since Reptile Encounters Scotland began.
An opportunity came up for us to move into a much larger premises, but with a pretty tight timescale to get everything ready and complete the move by the beginning of October.
Well... we're in! 🎉
Our new home is at 44 Stevenston Industrial Estate, Stevenston, just a short distance from our previous premises.
We're going to be developing the new space gradually. For now, we're only using a relatively small part of what's available to us, giving ourselves—and, most importantly, the animals—time to settle in and allowing us to get things right rather than trying to do too much too quickly.
But the additional space gives us so much more room to grow. 💚
It will allow us to provide homes for more reptiles and other animals needing somewhere to go, give us greater flexibility over the size of animals we're able to accommodate and, over time, allow us to make the experiences and educational sessions we offer even bigger and better.
There's still plenty of work ahead, and you'll probably notice from the photos that things are very much a work in progress—but we're incredibly excited about the possibilities this new space gives us.
There is one important issue we're already working on. Our current entrance has steps and a relatively narrow doorway, which isn't the level of accessibility we want to provide. We're currently looking at options for a suitable ramp and widening the doorway so that our new home can be welcoming and accessible to as many people as possible. ♿💚
Please bear with us while we work towards getting these improvements in place.
And although we've been quiet online, things certainly haven't been quiet behind the scenes! We'll be getting back to sharing much more of what goes on at the sanctuary, introducing you to some of our newer residents and, of course, continuing to bring you plenty of reptile encounters. 🐍🦎🐢
