‘Summer Horribilis’… But now improving!!..Following on from April when I last posted, things were going well, I was getting to grips with my new cataracts and was enjoying my new ‘sparkly’ vision and Colin was progressing nicely catching up with his back orders, May & June gave us the impression that we could look forward to the Summer and get back to normal, however in July I received a cancer diagnosis which required urgent attention…of course as you may well imagine Two Week Pathway’s, Heart Disease, Blood Thinners and surgery and trying to run Five of Hearts Magic don’t make the best ‘travelling companions’ so the tail end of July and pretty much most of August has fallen down a black hole & disappeared into a ‘maelstrom’ of Hospital Appointments, tests, biopsies and surgery; due to various complications we have experienced the added fun of numerous ‘Blue light excursions’ (usually late at night or early in the morning, I seem incapable of having a crisis at a decent time of day), courtesy of Lincolnshire Ambulance Service & Pilgrim Hospital … needless to say as at the time of writing I still have Heart Disease, I am still on more tablets than I can keep count of (including the dreaded ‘thinners’), the cancer surgery is healing and we wait for further news as to whether it plans to call it a day or whether it has plans to explore my immune system further. BUT meanwhile, I am now in my office (albeit for limited periods) but enough to answer e-mails and reply to the many messages we have received while Colin and I were ‘otherwise engaged’… and back again to processing orders.
Seriously though, our challenges have been small compared to some, and we are enormously grateful for having the ‘reality’ & responsibility of a business to keep us focused and grounded… at such news it is easy to become fearful and see only the worst outcomes, when this is exactly the time to do the opposite... for a number of years now Five of Hearts has proven to be a strong mortar that held the bricks of my life together firmly, it allows Colin & I to earn our living and continue doing something we both love & enjoy so much… making magic for a living is a great motivator, but making it for customers & friends is a blessing and such a blessing is not wasted on Colin or me…gratitude is a key that will open most doors in Life …so YES… Five of Hearts is still here (as a Magician in Spain asked me a few days ago), you can order on the Website as usual or phone me if you want to talk it through first, Colin will make your orders up just as soon as he can and throughout the process I will keep you posted…The Magic Goes On
PS: ‘Summer Horribilis’ was Colin’s idea but I can well understand that, he has been ‘absolutum est stella’ ….I could not have made this journey without him…
