Olympic Swimming

OK so….. my wonderful better half Rae used to swim competitively in her younger years and has now explained a few things to me and i’m now highly confused and my head has fallen off (a bit like the person who’s swimming cap fell off this week at the Olympics) 😂

Point 1:

Rae: Did you know they wear 2 swimming caps?

Me: Why?

Rae: To stop their swimming cap falling off?

Me: 🤨 (confused as this conversation started as a professional swimmers swimming cap has fallen off) But why don’t they just wear one swimming cap that fits them properly? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rae: Because they just wear two to stop the cap and goggles falling off. (The plot thickens)

Me: 🤯 So they wear caps AND goggles that don’t fit them!?! Why don’t they just get one cap that fits?

Rae: Because they wear two caps to stop the cap and goggles falling off.

Me: (still confused as the answer to my different question has just been answered with the same answer so now I feel our conversation is a bit like a Boris Johnson interview through lockdown where he just keeps saying the same thing over and over again).
So… Swimming caps come in packs of two then?

Rae: No… they’re sold in single packs.

Me: 🤯🤯🤯🤯(in my head WTAF! So nobody especially at professional swimming level has actually pulled the swimming cap manufacturers and said they need to start selling in packs of two!?!)
So I think we need to create a swmming cap/goggles combo all-in-one with sizes made to fit so that everyone just needs to buy one cap and that comes with a set of goggles attached. (Again inwardly thinking that this should be a perfect idea unless someone has a head shaped like a bulb).

Rae: Hmmm… and sometimes when they are training they wear swimming costumes that are a less tight fit than they would be in the main races.

Me: (jumping out of bed in disbelief) 🤯🤨🤷🏻‍♂️ Why would they do that?? Why would they not just always wear the same one that fits both in training and races??

Rae: So they are faster and more streamlined in the race.

Me: Why would they not want to be just as fast when training??? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rae: Because they want to be faster in the race.

Me: Well obviously but why would they want to slow themselves down in training, it makes zero sense to want to wear something that makes you slower when you want to be fast??? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤯😂

At this point we realised we had to be places so the conversation ended and I am just as confused as I was at the start of the conversation.

The selfless adult heroes that did all they could to try to protect children, each other and the wider public on Monday.

Let’s keep the attention on the people most important this week now and forget the haters who tried to make it about them.

There were also children that tried to protect other children when faced with a madman attacking them all. Every one of these people young and old are true heroes in the greatest sense of the word.

Shooter spotted as a person of interest by the Secret Service at the rally 62 MINUTES before the shots were fired. He was even spotted with a range finder soon after that. They he was spotted on the roof BY SNIPERS long before the shots were fired.

Nothing adds up…. There is NO WAY the Secret Service were calling the shots that day, not a chance!!!
