New arrival — and it’s a showstopper!

Say hello to *Passiflora caerulea*, better known as the *Blue Passion Flower*.

This RHS award-winning evergreen climber is native to South America, and it’s seriously impressive. Expect large, bowl-shaped flowers with intricate centres and glossy evergreen foliage that looks great year-round.

It grows fast, too — up to 8-12 metres — using its unique curly tendrils to climb without damaging brickwork, so it’s perfect for walls and fences.

The flowers are a magnet for bees and some butterflies, and in the right conditions, it can even become a little caterpillar nursery, making it brilliant for pollinators.

It does produce edible orange fruit about the size of a hen’s egg, but don’t expect supermarket passion fruit flavour. It’s only palatable when fully ripe, and only the pulpy seeds are safe to eat — the rest of the fruit and plant are toxic, so just admire and leave the rest!

Plant it in moist, well-drained soil and give it space to climb.

Come see it in store while it’s here — it won’t stick around

New in store this week — some real beauties you don’t see every day!

*Bougainvillea*
This vibrant South American climber is famous for its bright papery ‘petals’ — which are actually modified leaves called bracts. The tiny white flowers sit tucked inside. Its bold colours come from betalain pigments, the same family that gives beetroots and cacti their hue. Hardy outside in summer, but bring it in for winter. It’s even the national flower of Grenada and Guam, and a traditional tea made from young leaves can soothe coughs and sore throats.

*Calibrachoa ‘Million Bells’*
A prolific summer trailing plant that throws out a rainbow of colour. No dead heading needed — it cleans itself. Some varieties even change shade depending on sunlight and night temps. As cousins to tomatoes and potatoes, they love well-draining soil and drying out between waterings. Perfect for hanging baskets, window boxes, and patios, and the trumpet flowers are magnets for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

*Fuchsia / Ballerina Flower*
Named after 16th-century botanist Leonnard Fuchs, this pendulous beauty is known for its striking bell-shaped blooms. The whole plant is edible — the berries are non-toxic with a tangy, citrusy, sometimes spicy flavour. Most stay compact for pots and baskets, but one species in New Zealand grows up to 12-15m!

*Fatsia Japonica*
A tough, evergreen shrub from Japan that thrives in shade. Ideal for dim corners indoors or north-facing gardens. Unlike most shrubs, it flowers late — producing big, globe-like clusters in autumn and winter when pollinators need them most.

And if you’re after some reliable favourites, we’ve also got our old faithfuls in stock too — *Kalanchoes and Daisies*, just like the ones you can spot in the photos above.

Come see them in store before they’re gone. Which one's calling your name?

Now in stock: German Chamomile – Matricaria chamomilla

This ancient healing herb has been treasured since the time of the Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians, and it’s easy to see why.

Look closely, and you’ll spot what makes it different from other daisies: the hollow centre. That’s your tell-tale sign. Crush a flower, and you’ll get a crisp, fresh apple scent — ‘chamomile’ literally translates to ‘ground apple’.

The white petals and yellow centres belie its secret: the essential oil is a striking bright blue. Its scientific name even nods to women’s health, translating to ‘womb’. Traditionally it’s been used as a natural remedy to ease menstrual cramps and reduce swelling.

Known as the ‘plant physician’, it’s said to improve the health of surrounding crops. As a tea, it contains apigenin, an antioxidant that binds to receptors in the brain to help ease anxiety and encourage restful sleep.

A beautiful bloom with a long history of healing.

Spotlight on Alstroemeria, the “Peruvian Lily” ✨

Despite the nickname, it’s not actually a lily. Each bloom has six petals said to symbolise empathy, respect, understanding, commitment, humour, and patience - which is why Alstroemeria has long been the flower of friendship.

With its unique upside-down leaves, speckled petals that guide bees to nectar, and an impressively long vase life, it’s as clever as it is beautiful. They were named after the 18th century botanist Baron Clas Alströmer, who brought them to Europe.

No scent and non-staining pollen mean it’s perfect for sensitive noses and pale tablecloths. A thoughtful choice for friends or yourself.

Tulips 🌷 - a rare treat in store today!

We don’t usually carry them day to day because of their shorter shelf life, but right now we’ve got some beauties in 💜

Did you know:
- There are over 3,000 varieties
- The famous streaked tulips came from a virus, not intentional breeding during the 17th century
- ‘Tulip’ comes from the Turkish word for turban
- They are closely related to lilies, onions and garlic
- They close at night and keep growing after being cut
- During Dutch Tulip Mania in the 1600s, they were worth more than gold
- They’re the official 11th wedding anniversary flower, symbolising comfort, love & passion
- Audrey Hepburn survived WWII famine in the Netherlands by eating tulip bulbs

Stunning, storied, and in store while they last! 🌷
