Tough Game!

SRUFC 2XV faced 2XV this weekend at home.

It wasn’t to be for Bourne’s 2XV this weekend as they faced a strong Folkestone 2XV. Both sides came out of the gates strong with Bourne camping in Folkstone’s half for the best part of 20minutes, however failing to turn the pressure into points.

Folkestone held strong and eventually took their chances when they came going into the half time on top. The second half was a similar tail to the first just in reverse. Bourne held strong defensively but errors at the back and some good hand from Folkestone was just too much on the day. The lads scored twice in the second half for their efforts but it wasn’t to be as Folkestone won the fixture 10-36.

2XV 2nd Fixture.

Please find below your 2XV to face 2’s.

Bourne will be looking to put right last weekends loss against a strong side. Bourne will need to be resilient as they face another tough team in Folkestone 2’s. Last time out a 12-12 draw was the end result. As always, Bourne will look to impose themselves on the opposition from the off and set the tempo of the game. Will Folkestone be able to keep up or will they have different plans for the outcome of this fixture?

This is not one to be missed. With a 3:00pm Home kickoff we expect a packed sideline e to support the lads this weekend!

The 2XV Show!

This weekend only see’s SRUFC 2XV take to the pitch as they welcome 2XV to The Grove.

Last time out in the 21-22 season in Kent 4 Rural, saw a 12-12 draw in Folkestone. Both sides have changed since then and we are expecting fireworks on the top pitch!

Bourne’s 2XV will be looking to claim a big scalp in the league as Folkestone came down and they will look to earn their first win of the season.

Make sure you are up there support the lads come Saturday!

1XV Win Again as 2XV Fall Just Short.

This weekend saw SRUFC 1XV and 2XV take on 2XV and 3XV.

The 1XV had their 2nd game of the season and their first home game and did not disappoint. Carrying the momentum of last weeks win into this fixture, Bourne found themselves initially behind before responding back immediately. After which play had to stop as one of our lads suffered an open fracture in his shin. An ambulance was called and after an hour break, play resumed. Gravesend had the steam but after the break Bourne came out on top. Relying on the ever present set piece dominance giving our backs ample opportunity’s to run with the ball. Gravesend fought hard until the end but Bourne end the day 48-17 victors.

We all want to wish Rowan a speedy recovery with his injury and that if he needs anything, the whole club is here to support him!

The 2XV had their season opener against last seasons league winners. It was a tough, tight, hotly contested fixture throughout. With both sides scoring against each other and making both sides earn every inch of grass. However, Gravesend’s experience and physicality came through and they ended up winning the game 14-28.

Next week only the 2XV are in action as our 1XV have a bye in the community cup. So let’s make sure to support the boys next weekend!

Gravesend Come to Sittingbourne!

Please find below your SRUFC 1XV and 2XV taking on 2XV and 3XV.

Bourne’s 1XV will look cap off a stellar performance last weekend by starting strong and asserting dominance from the off again. Gravesend 2’s come full of confidence after dismantling Bromley 2’s last weekend. Both team will be bringing the heat but who will come out on top? Can Bourne once again prove why “The Grove” is the hardest place in the league to take points from.

The 2XV officially start their league campaign with a fixture against one of the standout sides from last season in Gravesend 3’s. Bourne last season couldn’t secure a win against this side, but look to turn that around this weekend. After the nail biting 31-31 at home last season. The lads are aiming higher and hoping to start their season as they mean to go on.

Both sides are at Home and kick off is 3:00pm. These occasions are very rare so let’s get the sideline packed full of SRUFC supporters and cheer both sides on!

The 1XV look to continue their winning start to the season but taking on Gravesend 2XV. Last time out against this side we came away with a good away W. Can the boys replicate this result at home?

The 2XV kickstart their official league season with a tough game against Gravesend 3XV. Last time out, it was one of the games of the season as both sides took and lost the lead with the game ending 31-31 each. Who will come out on top this time?

Line Drawn and Proud Players!

A positive weekend for SRUFC as the 1XV claim a dominant away win and the 2XV show why their Bourne Proud!

Both teams donned the new shirt for the start of our 50th season as a club this weekend and it did not disappoint. With all players showing pride and passion to play for SRUFC.

The 1XV travelled away to at “The bunker” this weekend. With the demons of last seasons defeat still lingering the boys knew they were in for an apocalyptic 80 minutes. They blew all expectation out of the water with dominance throughout in one of the toughest fixtures of last season’s calendar. Setting the marker for the rest of the season and the rest of the league that Bourne aren’t just here to compete but to win. An outstanding away win ending 19-58! To the boys from Bourne.

The 2XV made the long trek to this weekend. A bare 15 man squad stood against a league higher opposition and done themselves and the club proud! Initially taking the lead the lads couldn’t hold off the onslaught by the pacy Ash who came to life after the Try against them. Ash fought back and showed their class to eventually win the game 33-7 but the lads have many positives to take from the game against a league higher opposition and carry that knowledge into their first official league game.

Both teams look forward to a doubleheader at home vs Gravesend next week, where I’m sure the rugby, try’s and beers will be flowing!

1XV League starts and 2XV Preseason!

Both SRUFC sides are running out this weekend! The 1XV take on brutal while the 2XV take on Kent Slaver Finalists

The 1XV face one of the toughest challenges of the season to start their league campaign. Brocks at the Bunker, last season ended one a piece with Bourne winning their first game of last season at home against Brocks but losing their last game of the season away at Brocks. Bourne will be looking to avenge last time out and get a great result to start the season. I’m sure Brocks will have other ideas. There’s bound to be fireworks this is one not to be missed.

The 2XV face a tough upcoming team in Ash. A few years ago, there was always a great battle between these two sides, now Ash and the 2XV are marching forwards and up the leagues playing some great rugby! Ash tested our 1XV last season in the final, can the 2XV replicate the outcome of this match up? We believe they can!

Both teams are away so if you’re headed more London or Coast bound, both sides will appreciate the support as always!

Bourne beat The Sham!

It was a fantastic day last Saturday as SRUFC took on over the Hop festival weekend.

Bourne faced Faversham in a tough slog of a fixture of grit and local pride. Both sides came out of the block strong with big runs and big meters being made.

Bourne won the first half with a strong 21-0 lead but Fav were always in the game. A few more accurate passes and both sides would have cut each other open but each side just lacked that final finishing touch. The second half ended with Faversham putting in a strong willed display scoring twice in quick succession but Bourne replied well getting another two of their own. With the final score an away W for ourselves ending 14-31!

We would like to thank Faversham Rugby Club as always for the hospitality and tough battle on the pitch. It great to for both sides to have the hop festival to venture into after the match to ease and lubricate the aching bodies!

Thank you for everyone who came and showed support for the lads and I hope they didn’t let you down!

Now we move onto the first league fixture for the 1XV while the 2XV have a dedicated preseason friendly! Both are not to be missed.
