A few of my favourite things, all starting with ‘D’ for no particular reason. It just pleased me.
I love growing and designing wild rambling wedding flowers from my little patch of Devon. Creating personal floral celebrations that reflect the landscape and stories of my couples.

Dirty hands, full heart
Nothing beats that excitement of the first green shoots as seeds germinate, carefully nurturing plant babies then planting them out in the garden to go it alone. When you’ve seen plants survive seemingly endless rain then drought and heatwaves every flower feels like a victory.
I sometimes wear gloves but to be honest I mostly forget or put them down and can’t find them again. Plus all those lovely microbes in the soil are supposed to be good for you too.
Documenting
I’ve been on a real quest to photograph all the different flowers I grow and pick up from my lovely local growers this year. It’s so helpful to have a library of what’s in bloom each month and pull together floral palettes for my lovely couples’ proposals. And, when I see it all together, turns out I do grow quite a lot.
Dyeing
I feel like a hedge witch in the best possible way. Extracting dyes from botanical ingredients and then dyeing silk to turn into the floatiest bouquet ribbons. It is magical and delightful. Yes I am that obsessive, that I dye all my own ribbons.
I love experimenting with the strength and duration of dying to produce different tones.
Design
Always noticing sweet details in my surroundings, squirrelling them away for future reference. I saw these tiles in Cliff House Salcombe when setting up for a wedding. The view was incredible out the windows but I was also really drawn to the tiles.
When I finally get round to renovating my house I have all the ideas.
Details
The small things, never an afterthought for me.
I love working in the small scale dictated by buttonholes and hair flowers but still managing to go big on details and design.

Dreaming
Plans to grow more, create more in different ways.
