Irish Funeral Singer London

Irish Funeral Singer London Former lead singer of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance. UK-based Irish funeral singer specialising in traditional hymns and ballads. Hello there!

Serving Irish families across the UK. https://linktr.ee/ingridmageeirishsinger I am a classically trained singer from Ireland. I grew up singing in many choirs all over Dublin, including being one of the first girls chosen to sing in the previously all male choir of Christchurch Cathedral. I studied singing under Dr Veronica Dunne in The Leinster School of Music and went on to sing solo with the R

TE Concert Orchestra in The National Concert Hall, in "Agnus of God" in The Crypt in Dublin Castle and recently in Cadogan Hall, London with the Mozart Symphony Orchestra to name a few occasions. I regularly tour the UK and internationally as a freelance vocalist. My vocal training has ensured I can sing most genres of music, but I love to sing Irish folk and religious/spiritual music. I understand that at sensitive occasions such as funerals, people don't always want an operatic voice, they often want something that sounds more angelic, innocent and pure. Something more Irish. This is how I love to sing. I was notably chosen to be the lead singer in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance and toured the USA and Canada with the show. Currently, I live in Sidcup and serve many members of the Irish Community in London and the home counties at funeral and wedding masses. I am very familiar with Catholic hymns and masses and am often asked to sing modern songs, Irish folk and Gaelic songs. I am proud to say I am often asked to sing at funeral masses for the Irish Travelling community in England too. I am happy to learn songs that are special to you with notice. I can guide you through the funeral process and help you to choose songs if you need help. Ingrid Magee xx

I was recently asked to sing Slieve Gallion Braes at the funeral of a lovely lady who came from that area and lived most of her life in the UK. I hadn't ever heard the song before. I listened to many renditions to learn it-all with many different verses, stories and pronunciations. I suspect most people from Dublin like myself might not know this song. It's a simple song but like most Irish folk songs it tells the story of longing and or having to leave. I live in the UK myself now and when I sing these songs they do pull on my heart strings and make me long to go back to where I came from. It is heartbreaking to think how people years ago had no other choice. I have used video footage that people who visited Slieve Gallion took. Quite beautiful the videos are too-so Thank You to ‪ and (TikTok)

People often read beautiful poetry and literature at funerals which bring comfort to the congregation. Sometimes the person who has passed will have chosen it to be read and sometimes the family will try to find something that represents the person they have lost. How beautiful this little reading is by Mary Elizabeth Frye.

Hi everybody, the first half of this video has had a very overwhelmingly positive response so I have just posted the second half. I’m so grateful to Clannad for making such beautiful music to be able to sing to. It’s just so distinctively Irish and spiritual at the same time.
Rest in power and peace Moya 💚

In loving memory of Moya Brennan who sadly passed away yesterday. She with her family created some of the most beautiful Irish music there is in my opinion and this is my favorite. My pronunciation may not be perfect but my heart is in it! A beautiful song that really holds the energy of ancient spiritual Ireland. Thank you

Happy Easter, everybody! This is the statue in the foyer of Whitefriar Street Church in Dublin 2. My family and I were all christened here, and it was our parish. I was a member of the children’s choir and sang there almost every Sunday.
I really appreciate having this in my life. I learned so many beautiful songs, and it was lovely to be part of the community in this way. Since then, I’ve sung in many churches at weddings and funerals, but I still think this church is one of the most beautiful.
It is also home to the Shrine of St. Valentine, which houses the relics of the patron saint of love, gifted by Pope Gregory XVI to Irish Carmelite Father John Spratt in 1836.

"Going Home" was composed by Dvorak in 1893. William Arms Fisher wrote the lyrics. I really love this song. It's so romantic and beautiful and really nice to sing. It's quite a popular song at Irish Funerals to and I am asked to sing it sometimes. This is an a ca****la clip, with just reverb added.

Be Not Afraid

A hymn that has brought comfort to generations.
The words “be not afraid” appear again and again in The Bible and other sacred texts, offering reassurance in moments of fear, loss, and uncertainty. This song is often chosen at times when people need gentleness, peace, and the sense that they are not alone.

Sung simply, as a prayer — for reflection, remembrance, and quiet comfort.

May it bring peace to anyone who needs it today

Thank you to for the lovely piano accompaniment x
