Irish Funeral and Repatriation Singer London Professional funeral singer based in Sidcup, serving Bexley & London. Church, crematorium & memorial services. Hello there! Something more Irish. Ingrid Magee xx

Irish & Catholic funeral specialist | Irish repatriation services. I am a classically trained singer from Ireland. I grew up singing in many choirs all over Dublin, including being one of the first girls chosen to sing in the previously all male choir of Christchurch Cathedral. I studied singing under Dr Veronica Dunne in The Leinster School of Music and went on to sing solo with the RTE Concert Orchestra in The National Concert Hall, in "Agnus of God" in The Crypt in Dublin Castle and recently in Cadogan Hall, London with the Mozart Symphony Orchestra to name a few occasions. I regularly tour the UK and internationally as a freelance vocalist. My vocal training has ensured I can sing most genres of music, but I love to sing Irish folk and religious/spiritual music. I understand that at sensitive occasions such as funerals, people don't always want an operatic voice, they often want something that sounds more angelic, innocent and pure. This is how I love to sing. I was notably chosen to be the lead singer in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance and toured the USA and Canada with the show. Currently, I live in Sidcup and serve many members of the Irish Community in London and the home counties at funeral and wedding masses. I am very familiar with Catholic hymns and masses and am often asked to sing modern songs, Irish folk and Gaelic songs. I am proud to say I am often asked to sing at funeral masses for the Irish Travelling community in England too. I am happy to learn songs that are special to you with notice. I can guide you through the funeral process and help you to choose songs if you need help.

This guide is here to make that part a little easier, with ideas and inspiration for songs that can help tell someone’s story, bring back memories and create a meaningful farewell.

Samuel Barber’s beautiful Agnus Dei

The Agnus Dei (“Lamb of God”) forms part of the Catholic Mass and is a prayer for mercy and peace.

This is the opening soprano phrase, sung in one continuous breath — an extraordinary piece of sacred music with such a sense of stillness, reflection and peace.

A beautiful choice of music for a funeral or memorial service.

Music can create a moment of complete stillness...
My vocal interpretation of J.S. Bach’s beautiful "Air on the G String".
Classical music can be a lovely choice for a funeral or memorial service, particularly for moments of quiet reflection — and sometimes a melody sung simply by a solo voice can say more than words.
Alongside traditional Irish songs and Catholic hymns, I also sing classical and sacred repertoire for funerals, Requiem Masses and memorial services across London, Bexley, Sidcup and surrounding areas.

When people ask me to sing at a funeral for their family, I don't take it lightly. I feel like music is such a special part of all of our lives and it can move people to a place that cannot be seen. When somebody has passed, I feel like music can make the whole event so different-whether it be more sad, more tragic, more reminiscent, more accepting, peaceful..the list goes on. Some traditions believe that after death, the soul leaves the body through sound, for instance mantras, prayers, chanting, and in my own Irish culture, there was an ancient tradition of caoineadh, or ‘keening’ — a vocal lament for the dead. In fact "crying" in the Irish language is "ag caoineadh". So I believe everything that is said, sung or recited is important at a funeral. So when I get these messages it really makes me happy and grateful to have been a part of something so special. Thank you x 🙏 ,

☘️ BOSTON ROSE 🇮🇪🇺🇸

I was recently asked to sing “Boston Rose” at the funeral of an Irish lady who had made her life here in the UK.

It reminded me how much these old Irish songs mean to those who have left Ireland and made their homes elsewhere in the world — and to the generations of Irish families who came after them.

“Boston Rose” was made famous in Ireland by The Wolfe Tones, and for this recording I’m singing to Dan McCabe’s beautiful version of the song.

So I wanted to record it and share it, especially with the Irish community in Boston and Irish Americans who continue to carry such a strong connection to Ireland. 🇮🇪❤️🇺🇸

From one Irish voice to the Irish around the world. ☘️

A Very Irish Medley - Funeral Singer Sidcup & Bexley

I created this little medley for all of those people like myself who often long for home. I have become so much more in love with our culture, history and beliefs since I moved to the UK and music really brings me back. I hope you like some of these.

The Prayer - Funeral Singer Sidcup & Bexley

The Prayer is one of my favorite songs ever. I just think it is a perfect song. It is regularly requested for weddings and sometimes for funerals. The words can mean so many different things to different people. This was written by David Foster and lyricist Carole Bayer Sayer and made most famous by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. This is my solo version.

Rehearsal for Ave Maria by Schubert - Funeral Singer Sidcup & Bexley

Hi there,

I often get asked to sing songs to Our Lady at Requiem Masses. The most popular for me would be these three, although of course there are many more. I'm sure a lot of Catholics will remember the May procession where we sang so many songs to Our Lady. Here we have some clips of Ave Maria by Schubert, Lady of Knock and Ave Maria by Bach/Gounad.

An offering of this hymn, Be Thou My Vision dedicated to God the Father for Father's Day

I included a moment that always leaves me in awe — the beginning of life, when s***m and egg meet and a flash of light occurs — alongside a quote from The Bible, Psalm 139:13–16 A reminder also of the importance of celebrating fathers and their part in welcoming and shaping a precious new life into the world.
