Some houses tell a story. Others are still writing one.
One of the things that makes Iscoyd so special is that, while it welcomes hundreds of guests each year, it has never stopped being a family home.
Every portrait, handwritten letter, photograph and well-thumbed map tells part of the story. They’re gentle reminders of the generations who have shaped the house and estate into what it is today.
That sense of history isn’t preserved behind ropes or glass cases. It’s woven into everyday life here, sitting comfortably alongside carefully restored interiors and the warmth of a house that’s still very much lived in.
Today’s Historic Houses Tour welcomed our biggest group to date. Guests spent the afternoon uncovering stories of the estate with Philip Godsal Snr before exploring a fascinating collection of historic photographs, documents and maps, each one offering another glimpse into Iscoyd’s past.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. It was wonderful to see so many people sharing a curiosity for the history that continues to shape the house we know today.
Because understanding where Iscoyd has come from is part of understanding what makes it feel so different the moment you walk through the front door.
