🌿🎨 MURAL BY DAY… MURAL BY NIGHT! ✨❤️

We were blown away by all the lovely comments about Charlotte Tisdale’s brand new mural yesterday - so we thought we’d show you how it looks after dark too! 😍

Charlotte has created something really special for the Abbey Foregate Pocket Park, and once the lights come on in the evening it takes on a completely different feel.

And talking of lights… a huge thank you to Buck and the team at Potters Electrical, who were down at the Pocket Park last night testing the lighting and making sure everything is working just as it should. 💡👏

The warm lights, the mural, the railings, the planting areas… it’s all starting to come together beautifully now.

There are still a few final jobs to finish, but we’re getting very, very close! 🌿

🎨🌿 AND HERE IT IS… THE BRAND NEW ABBEY FOREGATE POCKET PARK MURAL! ❤️

We’ve been keeping this one under wraps for weeks… but today we can finally reveal the beautiful new mural created by local artist Charlotte Tisdale. 👏

Charlotte has been quietly working away on it since the beginning of September at English Bridge Studios, painting the whole piece onto marine ply boards before it was brought down and installed here at the Pocket Park.

And what a difference it makes! 😍

What were previously two rather tired-looking windows have now been completely transformed into a colourful, nature-inspired piece of artwork that brings another bit of personality and life to the space.

A huge thank you to Charlotte for all the time, care and creativity that has gone into it - to English Bridge Studios for letting Charlotte paint it there, and also to Rich and Rich from EJ & GJ Groom Building Contractors, who kindly donated their time and timber to prepare the area ready for the mural. ❤️

This whole project has been built on people giving their time, skills and ideas to create something special for Abbey Foregate - and this is another perfect example of that.

😂🚲 HOW MANY MEN DOES IT TAKE TO GET INSIDE A CYCLE POD?!

Quite a few, apparently… 😆👏

Another brilliant bit of teamwork today at the Abbey Foregate Pocket Park, as the new Shrewsbury Moves Cycle Pod was carefully manoeuvred into position.

And judging by these photos, getting it exactly where it needed to go was definitely a group effort! 😂

A huge thank you once again to the fantastic Shrewsbury Men’s Shed team and everyone else who got stuck in and helped with the installation. ❤️

The Cycle Pod will provide secure cycle storage as part of the new Pocket Park - another little piece of the project falling into place as we get closer and closer to the finish line. 🚲🌿

We couldn’t resist getting everyone inside for a photo afterwards… although we’re not entirely sure that was what the Cycle Pod was designed for! 😂

🪚❤️ ANOTHER BRILLIANT COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION TO ABBEY FOREGATE! ❤️🪚

Meet Rich and Rich from EJ & GJ Groom Building Contractors pictured here with Martin, who have very kindly donated both their time AND the timber to help with another part of the Abbey Foregate Pocket Park. 👏

This morning the lads will be busy preparing and boarding over those two rather tatty old windows on the side of Hair:21

And yes… there’s a reason for it. 👀🎨

IT’S GOING TO BECOME A MURAL!

We’re not revealing too much about the actual artwork just yet - but we’ll be sharing a lot more about that later today! 😍

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today for a brilliant afternoon and evening of country music at The Buttermarket! 🇺🇸🎸

Morgan Wallen UK Tribute Show & his live band were superb, with fantastic sets too from Ryan Evans and also Tom Byrne - wall-to-wall country anthems, cowboy hats and a brilliant crowd from start to finish! 🙌

❤️ ANOTHER BIG STEP FORWARD AT ABBEY FOREGATE! ❤️

A huge shout-out to the brilliant team at Shrewsbury Men’s Shed, who have been hard at work installing the beautiful wrought-iron railings and gates around the community garden at the Abbey Foregate Pocket Park. 👏

They’re not quite finished yet - but very nearly! And already they’ve completely transformed the space.

These railings will help keep the community garden secure, while still allowing the public pedestrian area at the front to remain open, welcoming and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

And what a few weeks it’s been for the Men’s Shed team…

They recently welcomed The Princess Royal to their base at the West Mid Showground, where she was shown around and had the opportunity to see first-hand the fantastic work this charity organisation does for the community. 👑❤️

To receive that recognition is thoroughly deserved - and we’re incredibly proud that they’re also playing such an important part in helping create the Abbey Foregate Pocket Park.

From the railings and gates to the benches and tables still to come, their contribution to this project is absolutely invaluable.

🤘🔥 DOWNLOADED… WHAT A NIGHT! 🔥🤘

The Buttermarket was absolutely ROCKING tonight as Downloaded UK brought the sound, energy and chaos of Download Festival to Shrewsbury - without a muddy field or a pair of wellies in sight! 😂

Huge tunes, a brilliant live band, confetti flying and one seriously up-for-it crowd from start to finish. 🤘

A massive thank you to Downloaded and to every single one of you who came along and made tonight such an atmosphere.
