Worthen Medical Practice is attached to the hall and provides income to the charity whilst hall, facilities hire and fundraising from the committee of trustees, local residents and donations provide the other funding streams.

The Worthen Village Hall Events Team is pleased to announce our brand new Scarecrow Trail, coming soon! We hope to fill Worthen and Brockton with scarecrows for people to visit and enjoy, during June and leading up to the Village Hall Fete on 5th July. In the spirit of friendly competition, anyone can vote for their favourite scarecrow with the winner being announced at the Fete. The winner will receive the magnificent Wonky Bob Trophy!

If you would like to enter, please ask for an entry form and we will get one to you. Email: [email protected] or call 07739 476737.

Scarecrow Trail maps will be available from early June, and then this can be used as a voting form to choose your favourite scarecrow.

More details to be announced later. There are very few rules, but your scarecrow can be any design, within reason. The funnier the better, but please avoid political or other potentially controversial subjects so as not to cause any offence. It must also be displayed entirely on your own property and not be a hazard in any way.

If you are a local business and would like to help by sponsoring our competition, please get in touch.

Come and have a go if you think you are an expert in the field! (See what we did there?😉)

Go wild in Worthen Village Hall on Saturday 10th May!

Whether your interests might lie in surveying obscure fungi or rare plants, or simply sowing a few wild flower seeds or putting up a nest box, we have plenty of guest experts and enthusiastic amateurs on hand, who would love to talk to you about what they do. Even if you can’t tell a blue tit from a robin, there’s something here for you!

Our guests include:
Cuan Wildlife Rescue – advice on how to help sick or injured animals that you might come across
Shropshire Wildlife Trust – working hard to stimulate nature recovery in Shropshire. What can you do to help?
Rea Valley Community Wildlife Group – Helping local people to help local wildlife and get a little bit closer to some of our fascinating plants and animals. Real enthusiasts can learn about how to carry out surveys for endangered species such as our local curlews.
Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre – A local educational and conservation centre allowing people to get up close to birds of prey. Meet ‘Fleur’ their beautiful barn owl! (10am – 12pm only)
Middle Marches Community Land Trust – Hear about their great work saving Minsterley Meadows with its rare plants and fungi, and all the other work they do in our area.
Shropshire Beekepers - Bees and their importance in the environment.
We hope to add even more

There will be various competitions, things to make, grow and buy, and other activities, especially for younger visitors. You could win one of our fabulous prizes on the day including a huge 140cm Monarch butterfly kite

Just £1 for adults, children free admission. Refreshments available – of course!

There’s still time to plan and create your entries for the Spring Show.

Please join us at Worthen Village Hall & Recreation Ground for a lovely afternoon of gardening delights on Saturday 29th March.

We would love to see some entries in the children’s categories - a dressed wooden spoon, decorated hard boiled egg, vegetable or fruit animal. We’ve seen some designs from some of the local children already and they’re looking fab!

Our Village Hall is a great venue for all sorts of events, please contact us for more details.

The Events Team at Worthen Village Hall is busy pulling together a programme for the coming year. As always there will be some of the familiar activities such as the Quiz Nights, Christmas Craft Fayre and of course the Village Hall Fete. We are also hoping to introduce a few new things this year so please watch this space!

If you have any suggestions or thoughts about what you might like to see organised locally, then please do let us know, as we are already thinking ahead to 2026. We are always looking for new volunteers and helpers throughout the year. It doesn't have to be a huge commitment, but If you can spare some time once in a while it really can make a huge difference for our community, it can be lots of fun, and you might even make some new friends. If you are interested in getting involved please leave a message below or email [email protected]

The date for the Fete, which is one of our biggest events of the year, has now been confirmed as Saturday 5th July so please put this in your diary.

Further information about the Fete and other events will follow soon!
