"I just wanted to say my heartfelt thanks to you for how you conducted C's funeral yesterday. My self and the family were so grateful to you for turning around a very sad occasion into a very warm and friendly service. Every one who came said how lovely you were. You were like a dear friend. and it was very comforting and we are very grateful for that."

Such a heart warming message that I received on Saturday after a funeral on Friday, it means the world to me to know that the work I do to help a family through a really difficult time can bring comfort.

Many times in our lives we meet incredibly brave people and feel humbled by what they go through. Recently I wrote a living eulogy for a dear lady suffering from a brain tumour, she was brave, courageous, funny and able to indicate what she wanted included in her life story. Sadly she died a couple of weeks ago after such a heroic fight. In her memory I am donating my fee to another dear friend who is fighting her own battle. Giving back and being thankful is part of my being, if it was not for my own sister, who died 4 years ago, I would not be on this journey so I am grateful for each day and the opportunity to do what I can.
