Quirkus Circus had the absolute pleasure of performing with Sangers Stage Show at the Horsedrawn Camp Beltane Bash festival this weekend. Such a lovely community of people and a wealth of artistic, musical and eco-grafting talents. We made some great connections, had the loveliest audience and danced to some fantastic music.
Thanks Jacob from for stepping in on the Saturday to compère our aerial acts and do some juggling tricks to make a last minute circus show!
We managed to put on two shows. One on Saturday and one Sunday. It only rained once heavily during the festival so we had to cancel the Saturday evening show but we were lucky with the sun mostly as it wasn’t a great forecast. Lots of kids and adults enjoyed the hour of giant bubbles we did as well! 🫧

Celebrating 25 years working in circus with since 2001 and 20 shows produced with their company since October 2021!! It’s been a tough two months to start this year hence not much posting on socials. Things are looking up though! The 20th production went really well with a lovely family scratch show for . Applications are being written for funding and show opportunities. Exciting times are ahead for the development of the company and our local artists with Sheffield achieving City of Culture status for 2029!

We had an awesome start to the year performing at the opening ceremony for the European Ice Skating Championships at Sheffield Arena! and were lucky to be invited by the legendary to perform their silks duo. Getting to work with some of the best professional ice skaters from North UK was fantastic. They were all absolutely amazing and delivered a beautiful spectacle for the opening ceremony at the event. The event was filmed live for the BBC Sport channel. We were all delighted that Quirkus Circus had a few seconds of fame on TV!

for putting the rigging in for our silks and making it work near the time of the event when we thought it wasn’t going to happen 😱🫶💪
and for pulling the act together at the last minute through snow days and Emily being ill with a chest infection. Luckily a the act had been rehearsed and performed three months before at the scratch show😅🥶💜.

Loving these pics of our last Funk as Puck show taken at Racoon Studio’s DIY arts venue 🤩
This was a really experimental piece for us trying out promenade theatre for the first time with acts popping up at different areas of the venue. We had the cast performing as theatrical stewards leading the audience to where the next act was in the space. Against all odds with several devastating issues happening in the week before the show it went amazingly well and we got some great feedback from our audience. Luckily we have a team of supportive and committed performers, crew and DJ’s to pull through tough times. Many long and late hours were spent turning the space into a theatre style venue thanks to lighting Kier and crew. The fantastic pics were taken by who also wore a body cam, filmed parts of the show and made us a little reel that you can see in the previous post. Massive thanks to Lucy also for helping sort the projector footage which we used to enhance the narrative of some acts. With high stress levels in the build up and a complex journey connecting the acts we were lucky to have the fantastic direction of from coming in to give us confidence and make the show cohesive.
It’s taken time to post this as we’ve been really busy with prep for our next shows. To be announced soon!
