Booit Straps Folk Club

Regarding the outcome of the meeting that I held at the club on Monday evening regarding its future and forward direction, I have put a list below of what's going to happen and the changes that have come into effect immediately.
I took over running Booit Straps Folk Club September 2023 and the club initially went from strength to strength, but over the last 8 months has been in a freefall decline for many reasons, attendee illness, weather and the industry as a whole.
I (Craig) put things to the vote, asked for opinions and advice and the minority have had their say and determined the club's future.
Booit Straps Folk Club will be reverting back to a 'grassroots' club as of Monday 24th February 2025.
What does this mean?
Well, it's going back to how it was before me really.
1. No guests will be booked by myself through my running of it from now on.
How long I continue is yet to be decided by me.
No guest spots was a common factor in the majority of people who turned up.
2. No open mic nights, live streaming or amplified performances will be arranged by me. Nor will equipment be supplied.
Again, this wasn't wanted by the majority.
3. No change of running day!
4. The club WILL run EVERY Monday regardless of whoever is running it. It will NOT always be me.
5. The club WILL keep the original times of 8pm until 11pm.
6. NO ENTRY FEE!
This has now been scrapped.
What I will say on a personal note is that being told that the club will ALWAYS run, with or without me on Monday has led me to question whether I am needed at all?
We don't need to manage cash, books or guests or any social media under the old ways of the club.
People were clear that it's not wanted.
What do people need to know from now on?
* It's a sing around music club.
* It's FREE ENTRY
* It runs on a Monday.
* It runs 8pm until 11pm.
* It's at The Commercial Pub in Chapeltown
SAME PLACE SINCE 1983!
*Just turn up.
