Our belated entry for this week is the supremely talented Eminem with his album The Marshall Mathers LP 🎤
We are quite confident that pretty much everyone in the world has heard of Eminem and that most people will be familiar with his body of work. And rightly so, as he is one of the greatest rappers in the history of Hip-Hop, maybe even the best of all time, tell us what you think on that below.
We want to focus on The Marshall Mathers LP, which was his third studio album released on 23rd May 2000 by Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. Synonymous with Dr. Dre's incredible production throughout the album, combined with the lyrical prowess that Eminem possesses and with some big guest appearances, this album is an all-time great in our opinion.
And don't just take our word for it, Rolling Stone named it the best album of 2000 and it often appears in best album of all time lists from publications from all around the world. It has sold over 25 million copies worldwide, certifying it as 11x platinum and diamond and was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards in the year of its release, winning one for best Hip-Hop album.
With huge hit singles including "The Real Slim Shady", "Stan", "The Way I Am" and "I'm Back" among others, it's clear to see why it was such a success.
Lyrically and sonically unlike anything that had come before it, this was a much more introspective album than its predecessor "The Slim Shady LP" and is widely regarded as Eminem's best work to date, whilst also causing a lot of controversy with some of the topics the content touched upon.
We love it and will always be big fans of Eminem, what's your thoughts?
