We are very happy to say that the shop is back open again today π₯³
We apologise for such a long period of closure, however, due to a broken leg and the commitments of the livestock on the farm we unfortunately had no option π
During the coming period as we get back into the swing of it we will be open Thursday till Saturday 10am- 3pm each week βΌοΈ
Hog Roast will be on the go each day as well as lots of others delicious goodies π·
We can not wait to see you all again π

As you are all aware, we closed the shop during January to allow for some family time and holiday π
After arriving home from a great holiday, however, my mum (Mairi) has unfortunately had an accident and has broken her leg. This means she is unable to drive and work in the shop π«
Currently, we do not have a reopening date as we will have to see how the healing process goes, however, we will keep you all updated π’
We are still taking bookings for our mobile hog roast business as normal, but due to farming commitments we are unable to open the shop on a daily basis at the moment β
We thank you for your understanding

Northumberland County Council planning department have now reconsidered their decision and are allowing us to carry on trading whilst we work with a joiner to organise the replacement windows and doors at the shop πͺ
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has commented on our previous post, liked it or spoken to us regarding the situation π€
Also a big thank you to Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson who has stepped up to the mark and has been in negotiations with the planning department to allow more time and to take a more sensible approach to the situation π
We will be reopening this coming Saturday 23rd July at 8am, allowing us time to restock and produce fresh products to fill the shelves π
We can't wait so see you all again soon and once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and understanding β₯οΈ

π« T E M P O R A R Y C L O S U R E π«
Unfortunately, we have been forced to close our Seahouses shop by Northumberland County Council planning department, until our windows and doors are replaced back to the single glazed wooden frames that they used to be π¨
Back when we initially purchased the shop, we took some wrong advice from our Solicitors who stated that we could change the rotten windows in place to PVC without any planning permission, which we then found out was incorrect after completing the work π
Despite our best efforts and appeals to be allowed to keep the current windows, we have unfortunately been refused and they must now be changed. We fully accept this decision and have agreed that we will replace them back to how they used to be πͺ
Our current issue is that we have not been able to get a joiner to get the work carried out in the time frame that the planning department have allowed us, resulting in us having to cease trading π
This is a massive blow to us as a small family business as we are being forced to be closed during what would be our busiest few months. Being left with all the monthly costs but no income is going to be extremely tough βΉοΈ
It is a very sad situation that the local council will not work with us on this, when we are more the willing to reinstate them as they have requested, and it is merely the time frame that has let us down βοΈ
We will hang on tight and do our very best to be back as soon as possible, but we would just like to say a massive thank you to all of our loyal customers. We really appreciate every one of you and cannot wait to see you all again once this is sorted π

ππ Christmas Primestock Show ππ
As well as using our meat in our shop, we also sell alot of our stock at Acklington Mart, one of our local markets π₯Ό
Last week before the sale, they had their Christmas Show! We had a very successful day achieving two 1st places, two 2nd places and a 3rd place among some fantastic quality lambs π₯π₯π₯
This is very rewarding for us with alot of time and effort going in, as not only are the lambs home bred, but all of the rams that sire the lambs and the mothers of the lambs are also home bred from our pedigree flocks π

Busy day
ππ BUSY DAY ππ
It's a busy day back on the farm today wrapping silage. After the grass is baled it is then wrapped in plastic. This kickstarts the fermentation process which creates sugars, and these bales are used to feed the animals for the winter ππ
Unfortunately, we will not be doing our late night opening today so the shop will be closing at 4.30pmβΌοΈ
We will be operating our usual opening hours for the rest of the weekend, so still plenty of time for you to grab some yummy treats π₯§π°
Admiral the Dexter
π₯ MEET ADMIRAL π₯
The new man on the block βοΈ
Admiral is a Red Dexter bull that has just moved to our farm at Rosebrough to join our herd of Dexter cows ππ
All of the Dexter cows that we purchased last year have now calved for this year, and are ready for a new man in their life π
Most Charolais and Aberdeen Angus bulls we have on the farm are over 1000kgs, so at just 500kg this little fella is far from what we are used to π€
We chose to purchase the Dexter breed for the slow maturing well marbled meat. These cattle are going to be farmed outdoors and grass fed on the top half of our farm which lends itself very well to this hardy little breed ensuring naturally sourced sustainable meat π±
Big Boss Evelyn
π· BEHIND THE MASKS .. Last but not least π·
Last up we have the main lady herself .. THE BIG BOSS .. Evelyn π₯°
Evelyn is only 18 months old but makes up for it with her sass and charisma π
Evelyn goes to Busy Bees nursery in Seahouses, but on the days she isn't there she can often be seen in the shop on a lunchtime, stealing her favourite cheese and onion crisps off the shelves or having a spin on her big girl office chair π»
Soon to be promoted to Big Sister, this little boss lady is a force to be reckoned with π
The Rolling Pig hog roast & BBQ is a family run venture ran alongside our farming business based in North Northumberland. We are passionate about promoting our own farm reared pork, beef and lamb whenever available, and only using the best quality farm reared alternative when necessary.
We offer a mobile events catering service, serving out of a fully converted vintage horse box, equipped to the highest standard. Alongside the traditional hog roast, we also offer roast beef, roast lamb or a BBQ option which can be tailored to any taste.
For an informal chat, or any questions regarding our services, do not hesitate to get in contact with us.
