My first ceremony yesterday where I wasnt in a suit and tie. The family had requested that people dresses as steam-punks. Glorious display of hats, goggles and amazing jewellery, and, yes, I did try to join in as best I could. 🎩🎩

110 mile round trip yesterday to the lovely Bluebell crematorium. Glad to step in at short notice, for a celebrant who had become unwell.
The miles dont matter, the families do !!

Close run thing this morning. Left home at 0630 to find a thick frost, and once I wss on the road I hit every set of roadworks and every slowcoach driver. No matter, arrived at Beckenham with 10 minutes to spare (far too close for comfort)
The good bit was having the honour of being able to lay a gentleman to rest after a 4 month ordeal with the coroners office.
Thankfully, he's at rest now and the family finally can have closure. 🙃😞❤️

Early start to travel 60 miles to cover a 15 minute ceremony at Beckenham at 0900. But who cares about the miles? Every ceremony is as important as every other one.

125 now, and two firsts today. First open coffin and first ceremony at graveside. Hot hot hot, but thankfully both went well. 🙏🙏

Back to Beckenham today for a packed chapel, standing room only. Ceremony for a much-loved gentleman. My thanks to Ian, the amazing chapel attendant and the wonderful crew from A J Morriss for all their assistance 👍

Today brought a memorial ceremony for a much-respected gentleman of 93, held at the local golf club. I so love the variety of my job and all the fascinating people I meet and stories I get to hear ❤️💜

It's been an interesting few days. On Friday I led a ceremony at the same chapel where I had had only two people, this time it was packed with standing room only. This morning I had the first of what may be a coming trend "Attended Direct Cremations" . So it's a 15 minute ceremony, first thing in the day, there is no choice of time slot and no Funeral Director in attendance, just a celebrant. It's amazing what you can pack into 15 minutes. Still the same allowance for music, but obviously a whole lot cheaper than a full-blown funeral. With Direct Cremations, family are not allowed to attend (some crems won't even let them into the car park) and often family are not told when the cremation is taking place (or where, in the case of these new companies on the TV) but with these, the family get to go, just choices are a little limited. Personally I think they are SO much better. We'll see how things go, I hope every Funeral Director starts to offer them. 🙏🙏

After all the background work, it was nice to return to chapel today. A contrast of two ceremonies today, one standing room only followed by the smallest I've ever done, only two attendees. Still both just as important as each other but such a noticeable difference.
LOVE my job !!! ♥️♥️🙏🙏

Back to Beckenham today to deliver ceremony number 100. Doesn't seem to be that long ago that I started, yet it is 15 months. Different every day, full of people's life stories. So good to be able to help nice people out when they need it. 💜💜

3 ceremonies this week and all massively different. The client is King, it's all about whatever THEY want to do to honour their loved one 🙏🙏
