Not the result Brompton 2nds were wanting at the weekend but the Malton Marquees sponsored player features on the score board for his efforts with both the bat (21) and the ball (3/19). Well done Ashley Mudd. Better luck this weekend team.

Well there’s no hiding from it, bragging rights go to Wykeham.

Struggles with the ball and bat continue for Phil’s 2s as for the second week running, we fail to bowl a team out after having them on the ropes and then collapse in the chase.

Wykeham won the toss and batted, a decent start at 22-1 as Andy Shep held an end up for his 48, despite appeals for a caught behind, if it was Benji keeping no one would care but it was Phil so it matters. The rest of the top order struggled for runs and at 85-5 Brompton set their sights on skittling the tail and getting on with the chase. Wickets soon fell and into the 9 and 10 partnership Brompton expected it to be over swiftly. The penultimate partnership between Stockill and Owen putting on 53 between them proved vital and perhaps gave us the shake up we need for the future. 161/8 at the end of the innings.

26-1 at the first wicket as Reardon departs with Jay smashing away at the other end for his 26. Same old story as top order fails to provide and we find ourselves at 45-4. Benno came in for a quick fire 19 before the returning Arthur Aston played brilliantly to give us hope with 38. Once again it all rests on the shoulders of 10 and 11 Mudd and Hulme who, despite their best efforts, found themselves 14 short of the target all out for 147.
Disappointing week but a chance to bounce back next week against Ebberston away, hopefully the rain stays away💪

Our Junior Manager loves swimming at Helmsley Open Air Pool.

Two bits of news from us
1) Big thank you to for supporting us for a 4th summer with a beautiful marquee- usually it is to provide shelter from the rain although this week it will be providing some welcome shade poolside.
2) Big thank you to our lifeguard team who have allowed us to resource increased capacity at the 15:15 fun sessions this week. Extra tickets just released so please find these online quick sticks

We have a week of hot weather
1) please apply sun cream at least 20 mins before swimming so it is absorbed into your skin
2) please shower before swimming- those dead skin cells are way better in the drains than in the pool
3) happy to top water bottles up in the kiosk
4) happy to sell you lovely
