🎣 The Bill Bayes Memorial Trophy Match 2026 🎣

Today starts the 116th Scarborough Angling Festival. Yet again I’m bursting with pride for The Corner Kitchen to be sponsoring The Bill Bayes Memorial Trophy Match on Monday.

This match is held in loving memory of my grandad, Bill Bayes, who was a titan in his time. Keeping his memory alive through this festival means the world to me and my family.

This year is especially poignant after losing my dad, Peter Bayes, in April. Dad loved this festival (and Filey!) and was so proud of Grandad’s angling legacy. While the trophy remains solely in honor of Grandad Bayes, I’m paying tribute to my lovely dad at his most favourite time of the year! We also remember my wonderful uncle Alec too.

What a force those Bayes Boys were in the Scarborough angling community! 🩵🐟💙

If you want to get involved, all are welcome. Even I used to do this match back in the day!

The festival runs from 19-27 September and includes boat & shore matches. I’ve attached info and where to get tickets etc.

Thanks so much to everyone who turned up and thank you for your patience while we worked through the queue. We completely SOLD OUT!

We are fully restocked for tomorrow, with the exciting addition of a brand-new plant-based sarnie: CREAMY GARLIC MUSHROOMS 🍄 (served with potato wedges, crisp salad and homemade pickles to cut through that rich creaminess 😋). It’s one of those that I know meat eaters will love too!
