Sunday 23rd August, 22:00 - 00:00. Late & last night ceilidh with SYZEWELL GAP.

Syzewell Gap started as the resident band for the Everyman Folk Club. The line-up has been together since 1982 playing British and European music with an East Anglian flavour across the UK. The name came from a story about smugglers using a path at Sizewell. The band has a reputation for energetic toe-tapping music guaranteed to get you dancing.

Sunday 23rd August, 19:00 - 20:45. KLEZMERIZED.

Drawn together by a love for Jewish music from eastern Europe,
Klezmerized! have been a firm part of the Norwich music scene for well over a decade. They play for concerts as well as for dancing and will be joined by their caller Chris Davis for a klezmer keilidh at FolkEast. Their instrumentation features violin, accordion, clarinet and double bass. Expect to be transported into the world of klezmer, an irresistible style of music that combines the happy with the sad, the sombre with the mad and celebration with yearning.

Sunday 23rd August, 16:45 - 17:45 Percussive Appalachian workshop with KERRY FLETCHER.

We’ll be learning some steps and rhythms of the Southern Appalachian (USA) percussive dance repertoire. We’ll put them together to make a short group dance and a Hot Dog Line (an improvised solo opportunity within the group dance). There will be an introduction to some basic steps for new dancers, with layers of complexity for more experienced dancers. There will also be a chance to freestyle/improvise, if you want (no pressure though!), in the Hot Dog Line. Join us to discover the joys of this percussive dance style!

This is suitable for all levels. Hard soled shoes are best, if you have them. Please do not bring tap shoes or clogs as they are too loud for a group workshop – thanks!

Sunday 23rd August, family ceilidh with ONCE BITTERN 13:15 - 15:15., with Alison Rowley calling.

Once Bittern are a popular East Suffolk-based barn dance and ceilidh band, serving up a massively toe-tapping mix of English, Scottish and Irish tunes with style. Fiery fiddle-playing, melodeon and guitar combine with driving bass lines to deliver irresistible opportunities to polka, waltz, step-hop, dip and dive or simply strut your stuff, under the instruction of a caller or otherwise.
