Some BIG NEWS! This time next year I shall be preparing to step aside from leading the charity that I founded 25 years ago.
Here is a statement and a little film too:
Statement from Chris Duffett and Glyn Jones on stepping aside from leading The Light College and Collective.
We have been seeking for some time to step aside from leading The Light College and hand on the baton to others who will be able to develop and take the college into the new season of growth and fruitfulness that Jesus has in store for the college.
We believe that together we have laid a good foundation for the college to grow and that we are both being called to establish new pioneering and church planting ministries. We believe The Light College is the best cutting edge college in the world to learn and be shaped to be pioneers and evangelists. We are stepping aside for others to lead but will continue to whole heartedly endorse and encourage others to train with the college, believing that in the generations to come thousands of workers for the harvest field will be sent out from the college!
The college has trained just under 300 people through our University accredited degree programmes and many hundreds in sharing the gospel. We have seen evangelistic Ministries birthed, leaders pioneer and plant new churches and Christians grow in confidence to demonstrate the good news of Jesus.
Chris writes:
‘The thought of stopping what I have pioneered for a quarter of a century is painful! For nearly 25 years I have lived and breathed The Light Project and then with Glyn Jones, The Light College and Collective.
It's been the very thing that I thought I would always do. I've never had a 'proper job' but rather simply pioneered what I believed God had given me. It started with nothing but a determined vision and a cheeky faith that God was calling me to share the gospel and train others to do the same.
As I hand over the leading, I'm not stepping out of being an evangelist, but I'm not too sure what that looks like for the next season. All I know is God is asking me to make space for what is next.’
Glyn writes:
‘The Light College and Collective has been home. A place of incredible spiritual growth and explosion for me. Over the past 15 years, working alongside dear friends and especially Chris, I have seen God do so, so much amazing stuff, I cannot capture it all. I came here as a response to a call from God to develop a place where evangelists and pioneers could be recognised, developed and trained. By the grace of God, Chris and I have seen this happen time and time again. But in recognising this, I also recognise that this is the time to pass that baton on to the next gifted leaders who will take the college further than both Chris and I can imagine. As I pass this mantle on, I will be seeking to see the good news of our LORD Jesus, established in new places through the planting of church communities in this country and others
--------
The plan is that Chris will continue leading as Principal until September 2025 and then dedicate time until January 2026 to finish writing his new book, 'Everyday Evangelism as Exiles.'
Glyn is planning to step down in leadership September 2024 and will continue to serve as a tutor and within a consultation role as a new Principal and vice principals are appointed for the foreseeable future.
Please do pray for the staff and tutors of the college as they transition into new leadership and for the new Principal who will lead and develop the college.
Chris and Glyn share the news of stepping aside as co-principals of The Light College and Collective.
