It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Jim Seamer, my Grandfather, our colleague, and a loved friend to many. His loss will be felt at G & H Seamer and throughout the wider community to which he gave so much of his time and service over the years.

His funeral service will be held in St Swithun’s Church, Sandy on the 2nd February at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend the service in the church and the burial that will follow.

No flowers by Jim's request, donation if desired can be made to Great Ormond Street Hospital Childrens Charity and Prostate Cancer UK at www.ghseamer.co.uk from the 12th January and on the day of the service.

We expect that the High Street in Sandy will be extremely busy during the time of the funeral and I thank everyone for your patience during this time.

The G & H Seamer office will be closed on the day of the funeral to allows staff to attend.

Sandy Town Council goes electric

Underlining its commitment to the environment and completing one of the actions within its Environmental Plan, Sandy Town Council has confirmed the purchase of a new electric utility vehicle to replace a diesel truck which is coming to the end of its life. Following several months of research and a number of successful demonstrations, the Council agreed that the new eco-friendly, efficient and long-range all electric truck would offer a versatile solution for the Council’s town and green spaces maintenance.

The new vehicle will be in operation this summer and marks another important step in the Council’s commitment to improving the environment of Sandy and whenever possible considering environmentally friendly options in its decision making.

Town Mayor, Cllr Pettitt commented, “With 2030 in mind, I warmly welcome the decision taken by the Council. This compact, all electric vehicle with zero CO2 emissions will provide our outdoor team with greater flexibility in the way they work throughout the town, given its compact design and off-road capabilities, most especially in the cemetery, recreation and amenity areas and the Pinnacle and Sand Hills. The battery will have sufficient range for a full day’s work and can serve as a power source for additional rechargeable, portable equipment such as power saws and strimmers, thus reducing and in time eliminating our carbon footprint.”

We are currently in the process of being authorised to continue selling Ecclesiastical (Perfect Choice) Funeral plans. This is a funeral plan provider that we trust and believe cares about every plan put in place. If you are interested in taking out a funeral plan, we always advise that you speak with your local trusted funeral director.

NAFD members - a date for your diary: Thursday 17 February 2022.

All UK funeral homes that advise, introduce or sell funeral plans must be authorised to continue to do so, by the Financial Conduct Authority, from 29 July 2022.

Authorisation is not a process that happens overnight, so it's critical that you take steps now, if you haven't already done so.

Join our webinar to hear from plan providers on the authorisation process - and get answers to any questions you may have.

From today, 16 September 2021, all UK funeral directors are required to make pricing information easily accessible for customers, under new rules by the Competition and Markets Authority.

In funeral home windows, customers will be able to find a ‘Standardised Price List’, which all UK funeral homes must display, showing the cost of simple funeral services that they can provide.

If you prefer to choose from a wider range of products, packages and services you can view an Additional Options Price List.

Inside the funeral home, posters or screens will display the Standardised Price List along with details of local cremation prices and payment terms.

Funeral directors are also now required to display information about which company owns the funeral home and any gifts, sponsorships or donations (of £250 or above) to connected organisations, such as hospices and care homes.

On funeral home websites, there will be copies of price lists, local cremation fees and payment terms, as well as information about who owns the funeral home and any donations they make.
