Local community groups across Dover District can now apply for funding through Dover District Council’s Community Grants Scheme, which opens today.

A total of £50,000 is available in this summer funding round, with grants of between £100 and £2,500 available for projects that bring a clear benefit to local residents.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 26 May 2026.

These grants can be a really useful source of support for local charities, voluntary groups, clubs and community organisations delivering positive work in our towns and villages. A further £50,000 is also expected to be made available in a winter funding round later in the year.

is about celebrating the town we live in, the streets we walk every day, the independent businesses we rely on, and the little moments that make Sandwich what it is. It’s part of the Sandwich is Open project and it’s deliberately simple - positivity, pride and backing our town.

If you’ve got a favourite photo of Sandwich, a street, a view, a shop, the river, a market day, a quiet corner, or just a moment that made you smile, then send it in. It doesn’t need to be perfect. Real photos, real Sandwich!

I’ll be sharing as many as I can and showcasing just how much there is to love about our town.
