One thing survival TV has taught me:

Pressure doesn't necessarily change people.

It reveals them.

That applies whether you’re surviving in Colombia, operating in the military, running a business or trying to make a major decision with your partner.

That is one of the things I love about using the outdoors for training.

🔥 HOME-EDUCATING PARENTS IN PLYMOUTH & DEVON 🔥

We’re considering launching something new at South West Survival and I’d love to see if there’s enough interest.

🏕️ HOME EDUCATION SURVIVAL ACADEMY

A practical outdoor learning programme for home-educated children, combining survival skills with real-world education.

Children could learn:

🔥 Fire lighting and fire safety
🧭 Map reading, navigation and compass skills
🏕️ Shelter building and problem solving
💧 Water collection and purification
🪢 Knots and practical skills
🌿 Nature and outdoor knowledge
🩹 Basic outdoor first aid
👥 Teamwork, resilience and leadership

The idea would be to run structured weekday sessions at South West Survival in Plymouth, giving children the chance to learn practical skills, get outdoors and meet other home-educated young people.

We’re initially looking at children around 8-14 years old.

This isn’t about sitting in a classroom.

It’s about learning by doing.

Before we launch it, I want to know how much demand there is.
